The Biden Presidency

as i said being incompetent and ill-prepared does not absolve

the goal was to intimidate Pence and others into setting aside the constitution...i'm very glad they failed...but not feeling too merciful...i'm sure the judges will be handing down some pretty stiff sentences

I'm not sure what the point is in announcing a bipartisan deal and then immediately saying it won't happen unless a separate one sided deal also happens.

Also, Sinema is doing a lot to raise her profile in these bipartisan working groups. The photographers always make a point of getting her in the shot, and she always seems to be beside Biden or Romney. I wonder if she has higher ambitions.

She wears some absurdly colorful clothes, which is fun too I guess.

Obviously many here will disagree on principle but seems like a smart political move for the Dems to split it in two- get credit for passing the largest public infrastructure investment in history in a bipartisan way. Then take it a step further with a separate bill that actually impacts people's lives with childcare, community college, paid leave, etc. while increasing taxes on corporations and the rich to pay for it- all of which is wildly popular- while being able to say that Republicans voted against that last part.

I agree with you, but Biden and Pelosi both said it will be both or none. I guess my issue with more how it's being reported than anything else. There's no deal right now because the proposed infrastructure bill is contingent on a separate bill.

Right- it will be interesting if that causes the Republicans to back down from the initial agreement. They have to see the obvious political strategy the Dems are playing.

didn't realize the White House hired Roy Blunt as its legislative strategist

Biden's handling of the two infrastructure bills seems rather naive but Mitch's comments are as well. Of course the GOP knew what the Dems were doing.

Biden showing his governing skills with this infrastructure bill. If he and the Dems do pull it off it will be very impressive.

The American Rescue Plan supposedly had 350 billion in funding for local law enforcement. I tried looking up the details on that a few days ago and couldnt find much details on that.

Well their claim may be true in the sense that Republicans voted against the American Rescue Plan that had 350 billion for local law enforcement.
