The Bird is Freed

No I think the rise in DAU is a mirage. it's twitter being in the news, and people not actually leaving twitter. I know a lot of heavy users who've slid off their twitter usage.

What I'll say is I think if you're into Onlyfans and Crypto twitter is a great place to be now. I miss when I could see lots of cool stuff from creatives

So I just want to make sure what your position is at this time.

You believe twitter is about to 'fail' in that the growth will stop and it will stop being as relevant?

I think Twitter like every major social media platform but youtube and tiktok is struggling to get organic growth. Musk knows this, it's why he's tweeting out these numbers is because he's hiding something. When something is going well you rarely like to talk about numbers most people don't care about in public.

Also I'll be the one to say it, bot activity seems to be growing again too.

But finally here's my actual point, if the people who made twitter popular, journalists, leave twitter it will die. I mean I have a twitter account for 2 reasons. First was many years ago I started my old one which i would use to follow MLB trade deadline. I abandoned that for th emost part (sometimes I log in and see what's going up with it) and started my new one after I deactivated my facebook. THe new one I started to follow content creators I care about, mainly D&D related but also music, etc. If everyone I follow leaves for Hive, I'll follow as well.

We'll see how it all plays out. Twitter is moving towards people who follow musk, which isn't the majority of the US.

Twitter is surprisingly small compared to other social media. Under 400 million accounts and who knows how many are dead accounts, bots, or duplicates. 25% of the accounts are something like 92% of all posts. Other social media gets like a billion unique visitors a month. The upside to that is I guess it has a lot of growth potential.

Musk bringing up 2014 events that rile up middle aged white conservatives is hardly a recipe for growth.

Zito, do you think twitter banned profiles from people on the left as much as they did from the right or was the banning pretty fair between both sides?

Zitos continued commentary on how to successfully run a huge social media company is probably the funniest thing I’ve seen on these boards

To be fair, it’s been matched pretty well by “Daddy Musk has saved Twitter by getting rid of all the single women.”

How is Twitter still up without all those activist white women running the show?

This is so confusing......

The rabid left is literally unable to debate when there aren't censoring mechanisms to save them from embarrassment.

How pathetic - They've lost their disinformation tool.

Figured this was about the only path forward. Genuinely curious how much the labor involved in manually verifying accounts ends up eating into any profits from the gullible people paying $8 for the honor of their checkmark.

I doubt that’s the reason given that there have *always* been people challenging anything someone prominent says on Twitter.

Until that person would be kicked off of twitter for disrupting establishment narratives (Berenson)
