the CIA torture report is sickening

It has fallen pretty far.

You're worried more about the rights of people who will gladly kill you and your neighbors without hesitation than you are about your own safety.

That's actually pretty unnerving and sad.

In fact I find it unnerving you feel threatened by a people half way around the earth then use that as justification for the useless atrocities acted out in our name
I am not worried about being killed by ISIS . Nor was I worried about being killed by alQuida. Or Hamas or most any other international "terrorist organization" that coincidentally are populated by brown skinned people not of the Christian faith

Imagine in 2001 had GWB taken NSA Rice seriously ... just think.
Imagine 1918 we did not participate in the divvying up of the middle east to help prop up a dying British Empire
Just think

Anyone else see the report last week that a (R) congressman refereed to Native Americans as parasites and advocatd nullifying those treaties ?
The same notion -- the advancement of "civilization"
I believe they scalped people back in the day in defense of their lands, lives and way of life.

Cause and effect ?

And some people squawked moral outrage then too, and to the same end.

Isn't this report about something that mostly happened ten years ago?

yes .

The report was commissioned with the purpose of recommending updated safeguards and regulations.

The ship of trying any of the perps has long since sailed. Obama will not allow the Justice Department to file charges. So all Bush-Cheney et al have to do is avoid traveling to half the countries in the world.

///////////////////////

Question to those outraged by the beheadings -- suppose we didn't rectally feed these people comrades or engage in some of the practices spelled out in the report - perhaps that is the justification ISIS uses ???
What do you think ?

So much desperation and short-sightedness in the whole torture program. It's almost as if it was thought up by a 14 year old.

I give them credit for including the Bee Gees, but most anything played over and over would get to me pretty soon.

Yeah, I feel like "Raspberry Beret" on a loop would just help me find my happy place.

This is an excellent point. My recollection is that the psychological underpinnings were mostly the work of one guy, a self-appointed expert who found a meal ticket. It sounded dodgy—and who with any scrap of professional ethics would involve themselves in something like that?

2 guys

charged the DOD $80 million to torture people

that is money put to good use.

Rather this than waste and fraud on daycare (with breakfast) for some 19 year old inner city mother with 3 kids .
Or research leading us from fossil fuels ,

You know what's funny? This list was published in 2008.

What an opportune time to suddenly give a ****.

i am guessing you think i woke up a few days ago and someone told me to be upset about torture?

in case you are wondering, that isn't the case

I wasn't really directing that at you, specifically.

I get chapped at the sudden mock 'indignation' people have for a practice they've willingly allowed to continue for over half a decade.
