The Coronavirus, not the beer

these gentlemen have not only caused their own deaths but spread deza that has caused others to die

of course with respect to the former i 100% support their right to suicide by covid as long as they do it in the privacy of their own homes and incur the associated costs without imposing any on society

with respect to the latter, it is hard to think of a more pathetic thing that to spread kind of deza that these people have

I know the T word triggers some folks around here, and they'd rather just mock the poster than acknowledge it, but what's going on in Australia is alarming to say the least. 21st century, western democracies should do better.

There is no limit to what the authoritarian left will enable. Despite asking probably 20+ times, none of our lefty friends have been able to bring themselves to say Australia has gone too far. A good lesson when considering how much power to give people like them

For the record, I'm in favor of fresh air and not in favor of arresting people who step out of their houses to get some fresh air.

I also favor using various sorts of incentives to counteract the negative effect of externalities such as those prevalent during infectious diseases. My favored incentive is cold hard cash. Get your covid vaccines get a thousand bucks. I also support vaccine mandates such as those the military has had and that school districts have had for many years for a variety of infectious diseases. This includes chicken pox which is not terribly harmful to school age children. The widespread dissemination of chicken pox vaccines among school children has greatly reduced incidence of chicken pox among vulnerable populations such as infants below age one and pregnant women.

I also favor laws mandating parents to provide for an education for their children.

I'm not a fan of bicycle helmet laws but don't regard them as a form of tyranny.

Instead of Australia, how about this guy. Do you think he thought about the lies he told people as he lay there with a tube stuck in his mouth, knowing that he himself was also going to die from his own lies??? I'm not celebrating his death. I just wonder what his lasts thoughts were. For all I know he thought Trump might swoop in and save him in an orange-caped Super Prez costume, but I wonder.

Is the orange shirt just a coincidence?

I doubt very seriously that Phil himself would say these things, but ...

"Phil would like for his listeners to know that while he has never been an 'anti-vaxer' he regrets not being more vehemently 'Pro-Vaccine', and looks forward to being able to more vigorously advocate that position as soon as he is back on the air, which we all hope will be soon," his brother Mark Valentine wrote on July 22.

"He recognizes now that him not getting the vaccination has probably caused a bunch of other people not to get vaccinated,"
he said in the interview. "And that he regrets." "This is a real threat, it is a real public health crisis and it is something that if he had to do over again ... his cavalier attitude wouldn't have been what it was and he would have gotten vaccinated and encouraged everybody to get vaccinated," he added.

I arrived into NYC tonight.

went to an Indonesian restaurant in Queens.

she asked if I remembered to bring my vaccine card. I had to run back to my car to grab it. She looked at it for 2 seconds and gave it back to me.

ive never felt so oppressed in my life before. The tyranny was just too indescribable. I truly felt my privacy was invaded. And my server just couldn’t help herself but deprive me of my right to eat in their establishment unmolested.

even worse was she and the rest of the staff were wearing masks. It felt like the twilight zone.

I'd venture a guess that white people didn't feel oppressed in the 1850s, either

If folks are actually trying to convince the unvaccinated to get the jab, and aren’t just looking to bask in their own moral superiority, I’d suggest they not refer to the unvaccinated as “idiots” who “are killing people all over the country.” Just a thought.
