The Coronavirus, not the beer

Happy 3 year anniversary

Interesting that on that date plus 15 days you praised the administration for their response being "well above average" and doubled down a few days later to praise them for an "optimal" response.

To be fair you did take a jab in between those posts to criticize them for relying on "wildly too high" projections of deaths from covid. The irony!

I guess now that you have jumped onto the DeSantis bandwagon with both feet those words of praise for very poorly chosen one are gonna be forgotten. Hindsight and all that jazz.

lol

I'd be embarrassed too, if I were you

I did get plenty wrong. For example I agreed with you that deaths in the U.S. from covid would not exceed 100,000. I was bigly wrong on that score.

We have good company on that score. I believe one of your first posts in this thread was to share an article by a very distinguished British scientist arguing that it would all go away without killing more than a few dozen people. If someone with his credentials can be so wildly off, it just shows you how unpredictable the whole situation was.

one constant in life is that I will be wrong about a great many things...

recognizing that, reflecting, and adapting is a strength of mine

but I think you're initial projection of true covid deaths being around 100k was pretty accurate, maybe even a little higher than reality. nice work on that

The decision to take a pause and truly see how deadly the virus was to this day was still the right move. If the IFR was truly >1% as some thought it would have been the worst thing to happen in the last 100+ years.

tough choice

who to believe

deep state scientists and analysts at DOE and FBI

or

academics and experts at elite institutions

Guess so.

This article would certainly shoot down the former, but not the latter

I don't think the article is the definitive last word. I admire the attempts to get to the bottom of this question. I really don't have a dog in this fight. Except to note what a bad actor China has been in not facilitating a credible international investigation.

It was obviously gain of function and it leaked from a lab. Identifying patient zero when the ccp has blocked real investigation is almost impossible. But I was one of the loudest beating the drum Covid was circulating in 2019. It was in the US as well for months before anyone said a thing.

What is your opinion if it turns out that the virus escaped from a lab that Dr Fauci funded and approved the GOF research of?

I would be scandalized.

I look forward to you laying out the case for this.

Tough to make a case more trustworthy than a bat gone rogue, especially when considered against the coronavirus lab in Wuhan that study gain of function research

Plus your judgement is impeccable
