The ramp up was happening behind closed doors and evaluation on total exposure. Until facts are known then procedures cant be implemented.

The last thing that we needed was a panic.

desperately requesting, Donald Trump appears to have realized that literally
cutting off air to Americans is a bad look. So on Friday morning,
Trump did an all too typical 180 and took to Twitter to do what
he does best: Blame other people for his mistakes.
On Thursday evening, The New York Times explained how Trump completely
blew off an all-but-complete deal to have GM manufacture thousands of
desperately needed ventilators while refusing to invoke the Defense Production Act.

But on Friday, Trump demanded—demanded—that GM get right on

with making ventilators, apparently for free.

Only Trump addressed that demand to a Twitter account that wasn’t GM.

And he ordered them to use a factory that they sold months ago.

A lot of people in positions of responsibility have put out messages minimizing the danger. Others have put out messages that contradict the science or cause confusion. They've all made a contribution to a higher fatality rate.

I am indeed happy every time Trump takes some part of this seriously. I would greatly prefer all the hospitals in my city to not collapse under the combined weight of their caseload.

Change in death rate lags change in infection rate so no revision necessary.

I never made the statement that deaths aren't going to happen. If you can find where I said that I'll happily recant all my ramblings the past few pages.
 
Change in death rate???? I thought a large percentage of the population has been infected since 2019 and we just weren't counting the deaths????? Egads what could be happening now?????

For something that has been around since November... seems like 25k worldwide deaths is a relatively smallish number. Seems the bigger issue is the all at once strain on the system
