The Coronavirus, not the beer

It's more like a hurricane coming and one guy drawing a map showing it's going somewhere else and another guy buying supplies to reinforce his windows and protect his property. The second guy might still suffer some damage, but most of the time he comes out better than the first guy.

chosen one on Feb 27: "the 15, within a couple days, is going to be down close to zero."

that's veteran laidership for you

The "15" was a lie as well. His system is very effective and very easy - just lie about everything all the time. Lie about your lies. Muddy up the discourse so much that no one knows what's true and everyone distrusts everything. Then, people will have to listen to the one guy in charge, whether they believe him or not.

Why are you calling it the Wuhan virus?

Because most people seem to think it started in Wuhan and people have been calling it that name for a while now. Don't go full Chris Hayes man. Don't let your Trump hate get you there.

At this point Trump could tell his cult he is a fraud and that he hates them all and his base would say he was being mind controlled by the deep state. Funny how they treat him after so many of them liked to call Obama the antichrist.

Trump is downplaying the potential impacts and severity of the virus when he says the words comin up out his mouth, but I think he's doing so in an effort to keep the economy humming along. The idea that he's not taking it seriously is just silly, when you actually look at the actions he has taken.

I assume you are aware that Asians are being stigmatized over this virus. And a small number have been physically attacked.

On a different plane, the foreign minister of China has asked Pompeo to stop using that term. It is worth noting that this crisis (including its financial and economic ramifications) is something that requires global leadership and cooperation. Trust and goodwill are in short supply these days.

What's bigger? The Trump Qanon cult or the orange man bad cult?

Well, I'm sure China wants us to forget but I think the cat's already out of the bag. This sort of virtue signaling is just silly.

I dunno. History shows words make a big difference. There is a whole ethnic group that has been blamed for killing Jesus Christ, with deplorable consequences. We can all do our small part to help avoid stigmatizing others.

It boggles my mind that some people cant see Trump for what he is. The type of country Trump wants the US to be is like Russia and China is now? The only thing he is actually good at is marketing which makes him a natural at propaganda. He wants the truth to be whatever he says it is. He wants to be able to use the same tactics that Putin uses against his political rivals. He wants to make loyalty to his regime to be synonymous with patriotism to the country like Xi has done in China. If you honestly think Donald Trump cares about this country or any of its people beyond what they/it can do for him then I dont know what to say. You can think I just hate Trump but I was happy he won. I hate Hillary Clinton probably more than anyone here. I gave him more of a chance than he deserved. But maybe I am wrong. Maybe he has been the victim of conspiracies and biased NeverTrumpers his entire life. Maybe the guy who is on this 3rd marriage who routinely had extramarital affairs who cant recite a bible verse to save his life really was sent by God to be President. I must be the delusional one here.

I think the videos we've all seen and the incredible actions taken by the Chinese government have been a bigger impact on people than a word that a lot of folks probably don't even know the origins of. I've noticed a lot of folks ride in on their high horse calling the word "gross." The good news is that pretty much anyone with a cough will probably be stigmatized pretty soon.

Trump's full of **** and says a lot of ridiculous things, but his negative impacts on the country have been greatly exaggerated by folks. The country was doing fine before corona (don't want to offend people that drink Corona!) came along. I'll take the pro constitutional judges and the entertainment of the Trump presidency.

This is like arguing over whether someone should have shouted louder at a storm or not. The storm is going to blow in regardless of how loud you yell.

I would prefer leaders who are prepared for storms. As Puerto Rico showed, this guy isn’t prepared for that either.

respectfully disagree...the damage he has done to our country is incalculable...it is not all on him, but we treat each other more poorly and that is a shame

Can it be considered a Cult when nearly 2/3 of the country feel the same way? Let's understand that he didn't get the popular vote and his numbers have pretty much nosed dived since his inauguration.

My school has shut down completely for the next two days. All classes suspended. Supposedly have a scheme of streaming up and running.

Also, lol at “constitutional” judges. Conservatives aren’t any more “constitutional” than liberals. Voting rights act was struck down based on the “principle of separate state sovereignty,” which is not in the constitution and is something Roberts made up specifically for that case, and which hasn’t been heard from since. Obamacare case was almost struck down because “you can’t regulate non-activity” which is just a linguist argument, not a constitutional one. The CFPB is about to be struck down because conservatives think the president should have absolute power of removal, which is also not in the constitution.

You can “interpret” those things from the constitution, but that’s what y’all criticize libs for, so...

Just admit that you just like their policies better.

I would agree that his negative effect appears to have been largely mitigated so far but this is far from over. Saying "yeah but except for that deadly flu that might kill millions" everything was going okay is silly. Trumps about to feud with the CDC during a deadly flu virus outbreak. Good times. All this is showing why people used to care about having someone with experience in charge.

The constitution is a magic document that says whatever you want to hear. What you mean by constitutional judges is they interpret the constitution in the way you want them to.

I wouldnt underestimate an incumbent with a strong economy when the other party is trying to "weekend at Bernies" a candidate through the nomination/election. Or should I say "weekend at Bidens"
