The Coronavirus, not the beer

If there is one thing I wish we could have a do over on it would be more thoroughly checking and testing people arriving from overseas at our airports and giving them consistent advice on the need to self-quarantine and finding a way to enforce this.

Sounds racist to me

We need to hug more people from China

It is the opposite of racist. We needed better controls on ALL people coming through the airports.

Risk based. Statistically it made sense to put the effort to ban china then as europe grew to ban Europe.

Million things we could have done better. Mainly allowing patients access to viable treatment.

Ultimately, the US will take a substantial loss [50k deaths approx] but the mitigation put into place was effective.

Just wish NY did a better job self policing. Then we would be in a much better spot as a country.

Geography suggests a national stay at home directive at this point. COVID-19 does not respect state lines.

It is hard to believe that some states have gone so far as to try to stop cities and counties from putting out their own directives.

Because people assume itll grow like it did in NYC. That just wont happen for a variety of reasons.

Major metro areas should observe restraint but most of the country is fine.

We have known mitigation techniques that dont include stay at home. Time to use those.

Let's assume that today 500 people with die in NYC. This is a larger jump than we have been seeing but let's use it anyway.

The 2 day growth in death is as follows

28th - 96%
30th - 43%
1st - 48%
3rd - 29%

How are we getting to 100k deaths in the country this way.when we only have a spiked runway of another week or 2?

Nope. Trump stopped all new seeds from coming over. Didn't you hear?

Remember when the democrats suppressed the most viable treatment for a global pandemic?

And some want these people to get into power

Wow

There is going to be quite a large increase in medical care premiums in 2021. I wonder if this will be a catalyst for a far-reaching reform of our system. I imagine just about every country will be doing a re-evaluation of what worked and what didn't work after this crisis.

How does it make sense to change an healthcare system based on its response to an isolated event?

Leftist leaders around the world encouraged the spread of Covid-19. When will they be held accountable?

Actually many far-reaching changes occur after singular events that stress test the system and reveal deficiencies.

I’m fuzzy on how the travel restrictions were so effective when there was essentially no concurrent ability to stand up testing and tracing, and no effort to put internal protective measures in place. Community spread was already happening, and the travel restrictions were lagging where the threat was coming from. I think in retrospect we’ll find out that, in isolation, the effect wasn’t particularly significant.

the problem was more the people travelling back and not receiving appropriate screening and directions on what to do with regard to self-quarantine

From a mathematical perspective this makes zero sense.

Removing outside infection significantly impacts the trajectory of the curve. Saying anything otherwise is ignorant.

i'm curious...what are your buddies saying about Fauci

Fauchi is doing his job. Trump is not weighing the risks appropriately.

But it's a common sales tactic. Undersell and over deliver.

So in this example you tell everyone they cant go out till april 30th. That 100k minimum will die.

When the actuals come in less than 50k and we are back at work mid april he will look to be triumphant.
