The Coronavirus, not the beer

devil is always in the details

but two types of testing: one for antibodies to determine who can work in public-facing jobs without being at risk of being infected or of infecting other people, and one for the virus to determine who needs to be in quarantine....and to control any new outbreaks a small or not-so-small army to trace contacts of those found to be infected

If the virus is as contagious as now believe active testing may be irrelevant aside from a current admission.

Are we assigning to much impact to our lockdowns or are immunity walls building faster than was believed?

The coming mandatory testing will be the perfect cover for the govt to collect everyone's DNA. Just sayin'.

I ****ing hope not. The hysteria over this virus has reached epic proportions. Its nonsensical so I expect daily mandatory testing reporting. And some will day that this is needed to stop millions from dying.

Bailout paying pastor salaries? **** that ****. Absolute bullcrap. They have a mother****ing God protecting them, they dont need our money. I would have rather no one get a penny than include those people in this. Are they going to pay taxes now?

I 100% agree that the tax exemption rules for churches can be insane and should be changed, particularly with the mega-churches, but I would imagine there are leaders in rural areas that might actually need help.

Thoughts on latest Sweden data?
fatalities in Sweden are a multiple of fatalities in other Scandinavian countries...but this Nordic saga is not over...it may be that the other countries will get hit harder later...stay tuned

Infection is inevitable without a vaccine

Denmark is starting to reopen schools.

Having so far avoided mass coronavirus infections, Denmark is planning to lift some of its lockdown restrictions, even as some of Europe's worst-hit countries say their outbreaks haven't peaked yet.

Europe — especially Italy and Spain — has been ravaged by the coronavirus. But Denmark, a nation of 5.6 million people, took remarkably swift action to lock itself down to stop the spread of COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus. It appears to have helped it survive the worst of the crisis.

It was the second country in Europe to announce a lockdown, on March 11. It did so before it reported any deaths from the virus.

Denmark was behind only Italy, which was already one of the world's worst-hit nations when it imposed nationwide restrictions.

But now Denmark, along with a few other European countries — Norway, Austria, and the Czech Republic — is considering how to gradually lift its restrictions.

Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said on Monday that daycare centers and schools would reopen on April 15 but that the process of lifting lockdown measures "will probably be a bit like walking the tightrope."

"If we stand still along the way we could fall and if we go too fast it can go wrong," Frederiksen said. "Therefore, we must take one cautious step at a time."

True. Eventually half of the population everywhere will get infected over the next year. The issue all along has been to flatten the curve so there isn't a peak that overwhelms the capacity of the medical system. Wuhan and Northern Italy showed how that could go.

Denmark acted very early (relative to cases). They are looking at data showing cases and hospitalizations declining in a way that suggests the risk of their medical system getting overwhelmed is low. Looking at the data it makes sense for them to reopen their schools and their economy. They probably also feel confident about their ability to detect and react to any new outbreaks.

Denmark is being rewarded for good policy. It shut down before it had a single death.

Are there stories of Sweden's hospitals getting overwhelmed? If not now then when if the rate of hospitalizations plummeted?

Immunity walls form very fast with a hyper contagious virus.
