Dr Fauchi said lives could have been saved if we acted sooner. Oh boy, the Presidents going to need his diapers changed after hearing that.

From experience where I live, that definitely isn't true. We have had one of the lowest rates of testing, despite thousands of available test over the last 2 weeks.
People don't want to go near a hospital for fear of catching a virus, especially if they feel fine. And that's true during non-pandemic times as well. People tend to avoid doctors like the plague when they feel fine.
Ouch.
It's so funny when thethe tries to disregard actual statistics with rhetoric like "you can't take these numbers at face value because of other variables"
Then he proceeds to link 50 articles where he takes the statistics at face value.

I would agree. I am not a doctor person at all and have gone only for an annual physical due to insurance requirements for hte past 5 years.
This is different. People are afraid they are going to kill their grandparents so you better believe people want to find out if they are immune.

Yes. Along with local health departments and even a few clinics. And this has been available since about March 31st or a few days after for some other places.
Anyone that has an at risk person to take care of should be getting this test.
More importantly Trump needs to get this done but it has to be the states that administer because there is no question concentrations will be different based on state.

I think Fauchi's comments are as much a self-criticism as anything else. Not everyone has an ego and insecurities that preclude recognition that he/she could have done better.
People SHOULD do this. But what people should do and how they generally act are two different things. People shouldn't panic buy 10 jumbo packs of TP and other essential supplies during a threat. But it happens anyways. Barely half of Americans even wash their hands after they use the bathroom (and among men it's less than 40 percent). Do you really trust people to follow directions?

There are quite a few testing centers in New York. Both the suburbs and city. But for the most part they require an appointment. Once you have an appointment you drive to the center and don't have to get out of your car. Many New Yorkers don't have a car and have been taking Uber or Lyft, which is putting their drivers at risk. But that is another story.
I will say, I don't know for certain if this might be the case here. I know for afact when it was first rolled out for mass testing, some sites would give anyone a test, but without a doctor order, insurance likely would not cover and it will cost like $200 out of pocket. Considering the unemployment rate, I would venture to say many people would rather not spend the money when they feel fine.
I would hope things would change with anti-body testing, but people being they are, I am not so sure.
