The Coronavirus, not the beer

And it's extremely unlikely upwards of 1 million people have been infected during this time. I can imagine an extra 5% of the population or so, becoming infected. But it's super unlikely the real % of infected this very minute is much over 30% right now (if that), and certainly nowhere near 50%.

Since 3/21 there have been 132k confirmed cases

Lets say incubation is 10 days.

From the start of April we have had 89,515 confirmed cases.

Multiple of 20 is 1.79M.

So yes - Its absolutely likely, AND PROBABLE, that over 1.8M people have been infected since lockdowns began.

In the worldwide race for a vaccine to stop the coronavirus, the laboratory sprinting fastest is at Oxford University.

Most other teams have had to start with small clinical trials of a few hundred participants to demonstrate safety. But scientists at the university’s Jenner Institute had a running start on a vaccine, having proved in previous trials that similar inoculations — including one last year against an earlier coronavirus — were harmless to humans.

That has enabled them to leap ahead and schedule tests of their new coronavirus vaccine involving more than 6,000 people by the end of next month, hoping to show not only that it is safe, but also that it works.

The Oxford scientists now say that with an emergency approval from regulators, the first few million doses of their vaccine could be available by September — at least several months ahead of any of the other announced efforts — if it proves to be effective.

Now, they have received promising news suggesting that it might.

Scientists at the National Institutes of Health’s Rocky Mountain Laboratory in Montana last month inoculated six rhesus macaque monkeys with single doses of the Oxford vaccine. The animals were then exposed to heavy quantities of the virus that is causing the pandemic — exposure that had consistently sickened other monkeys in the lab. But more than 28 days later all six were healthy, said Vincent Munster, the researcher who conducted the test.

“The rhesus macaque is pretty much the closest thing we have to humans,” Dr. Munster said, noting that scientists were still analyzing the result. He said he expected to share it with other scientists next week and then submit it to a peer-reviewed journal.

Flatten the curve turned into killing the virus.

Anything to save the embarrassment of getting everything so wrong.

Are you guys sure this guy isn't actually combining the "theys" out there? It would seem as though the "they" who were wanting to shut things down for a while (rightly or wrongly) isn't the same "they" who are wanting to liberate everything now. I would guesstimate that for the most part these are separate and distinct groups.

The Trump administration is prepared to send all 50 states enough tests to screen at least 2% of residents for the new coronavirus, a senior administration official said Monday, with the aim of rapidly expanding supplies in the coming weeks as the nation’s leaders look to reopen parts of the economy.

President Trump plans to give a news conference at 5 p.m. in which he is expected to discuss testing. The official said that testing 2% of each state’s population was the minimum needed to maintain public health.

No wonder he skipped pressers this weekend. Wanted to actually report good news this time before the next one.

I can't wait to watch him milk the **** out of this during the presser.

Judge overrules my states ridiculous closure of gun ranges

“The Governor appears to argue that, when he declares a state of emergency, he can ignore any law that limits his power, even laws designed to limit his powers in a state of emergency,” Yeatts wrote.

Yall really cant let anything be a positive, can you

TDS

It is a positive.

Still doesn't change the fact Trump will gloat about this like he just won the superbowl, world series, and nba finals for the next few weeks. He will use it to erase his "if anybodyw ants to get tested they can get tested" comments from March 4th, and Pence's we'll hit 4 million tests in hte next week in the beginning of March. Just a few days away now from May.

Funny you dont criticize the people who are responsible for almost half the deaths from the virus.

I wonder if you're politically motivated

Are we talking about China or (D) governors?

I lose track of who you are shifting blame too on a daily basis.

CCP is ultimately responsible.

Dem governors basically killed thousands of elderly. Those are the facts. Your side cant do anything right.

Feb. 23: “We have it very much under control in this country.” — Trump in speaking to reporters.

Feb. 24: “The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA. We are in contact with everyone and all relevant countries. CDC & World Health have been working hard and very smart. Stock Market starting to look very good to me!” — Trump in a tweet.

Feb. 26: “So we’re at the low level. As they get better, we take them off the list, so that we’re going to be pretty soon at only five people. And we could be at just one or two people over the next short period of time. So we’ve had very good luck.” — Trump at a White House briefing.

Feb. 26: “And again, when you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that’s a pretty good job we’ve done.” — Trump at a press conference.
