The Coronavirus, not the beer

Very smart people can nevertheless be very dumb or misguided in particular directions. I’m reminded of Isaac Newton, possibly the single most intelligent person in history, who nonetheless spent most of his life focused on Alchemy and thinking about how cool being a virgin is.

If you want to see very smart people saying dumb things, read Einstein's views on economics.

For some reason, physicists are prone to thinking they are experts about things they know very little.

Why can't we get an accurate picture on this treatment?

The buzz has to do with improvement occurring sooner in patients taking remesdivir. The ultimate outcomes data is not clear cut.

Also I don't think it is the Lancet article that is generating the buzz. It is a more recent bit of research still undergoing peer review.

I think the Lancet study has been superceded by a more recent study that is undergoing peer review. It is this more recent one that has generated the buzz. U of Texas is the affiliation I believe.

Awesome.

I'd rather pay attention to the positive one!

not sure it is U of Texas. But it is a more recent bit of research still being peer reviewed. It shows average recovery time coming down to 11 days compared to 15 for the control group.

Sweden: 790 new cases and 124 new deaths. Positive news is that it is looking like this will be the least deadliest week since the 1st week of April. New cases continue a trend upward though.

thats what I've read (through summaries of summaries) but with the back and forth with Gilead and the WHO I'm not sure what to believe.

Of course its more than probable the WHO has no clue what they are doing [or corrupt].

As I understand it the outcomes data are positive but not statistically significant.

The time to recovery data are positive and statistically significant.

There is an information war happening and our CCP propaganda media here in the US is helping the CCP win.

Incredibly intelligent is an understatement. He is a more evolved human being. Pretending epidemiologists are more skilled than him is insanity.

Musk probably could learn everything they know in less than a week and know it 10x better.

This dumb mfer doesn't know about specialists.

The smartest people in the world are only smartest at their specialty. For example, I went to school with a kid, he went on to med School, because I scored 200 points higher on the SAT, that I should know more about medicine than him?

It's why you shouldn't listen to what'insert doctor here" says because unless they're an infectious disease expert, theyr'e outside of their purview.

Herd immunity, when all the people who should die will die then it doesn't matter.

These tyrannical decisions are not based on data

Cue the leftists "lolololol closing beaches is tyranny lolololil" comments

I asked the question few pages back with no answer.

Since yall dont consider arresting people for walking outside as tyranny... what WOULD you consider tyranny?

Wow. 3 cases. A total conspiracy

yeah...this is a weird little cottage industry considering what the mortality data have been telling us...mortality data from countries like Spain, Italy, France, Ecuador...plus the state data that have been coming out
