If COVID was going to be regular part of human existence (much like cars), then the tolerance threshold would be much higher.
I promise you that if cars killed 100x what they do now, we wouldn’t be relying on them as our main mode of transportation.

I live in California(Bay Area no less) and I go on a run in the park every day. When I go to the store, they are filled with shoppers with masks on that are otherwise not inconvenienced. Two weeks ago I went and saw my eye doctor to get my prescription updated. While I do miss going to cafe’s, the gym, the office, etc., I can’t say I live in a Mad Max prequel. I am also fully aware that I am particularly blessed in my circumstances.
There’s a lot of people hurting and I want to open up as soon as possible (I support the states that are reopening). But let’s not bend the statistics or focus on context neutral viral videos to make the case.

A dear friend of mine is in an ICU in CO battling for his life. This makes for my third close friend or church member and a half a dozen or more friends around the world who have had or have CoVid-19 (in the USA, France, and Turkey).

It's tough. I hope your friend makes it. My neighbor's mother didnt. She was a very kind lady. From the old country. Italy. She used to share some of her favorite dishes with us.

He's a generally healthy guy in his mid to upper 60s. Hopefully...
Another friend in his upper 50s has survived but he likely won't be back to where he was pre-CoVid.

Be safe Bedell. I just drove out of there and the trip was fairly painless; but despite the general chatter, life has not completely shut down and many people are still out and about (at least in my neighborhood). Stay masked up, etc.; wishing you well.
