The Coronavirus, not the beer

One side is certainly making it strictly political and ignoring all the science.

Come on, dude. lol Even if this were true, your side has not only been ignoring science for basically ever but also actively working to hinder progress. If they are in any way currently following science, it is only because it fits their agenda for the moment. If you are going to criticize democrats on this point (and there are some of them who deserve it), you are going to have to accept the horrible damage the republicans have been doing (and continue to do) to science for quite some time.

I'd agree, with the asterisk is that none of the available options look worth a flip either.

They don't. They look like better options, but barely. And regardless of who gets into office, they will continue to **** us little people over and keep us fighting each other so that they can continue robbing us blind without consequences.

I dont care about traditional Republicans.

I agree they have traditionally rejected science.

The current republicans are doing the same. You are kidding yourself if you think not. Look at the grants and policies and budgets. In the end, the best thing the government can do for science is stay out of the way and give a bunch of money for research. So those numbers...they say everything you need to know.

Well administeative science looks a bit shady to me with how they have been beholden to China. With that caveat I agree government should trust the scientific community.

Sadly, science, like everything else, has become highly partisan and its hard to trust anything now.

That's just a small taste of **** that has happened under Trump that has been an attack on science and progress and humanity. I literally could link pages of this kind of thing.

This is NOT true. A few choice studies have been twisted by non-scientists and had a clickbait title added that turns it political and everyone acts like the actual study was political. It's bull****, and it's ANOTHER attack on science.

What about the support for protests despite the virus?

Oh yay.

UCSUSA doesn't have a political agenda.

Come on.

That's not based on any actual science, and no one has tried to provide science to support that stance.

Scientists are representatives of science. When they speak the assumption is that its from a science based perspective. You know this.

The support for portests badly damaged the industry.

lets pretend that dozens of labs in Florida weren't reporting fraudulent data.

Lets pretend.

How would sending the results to Trump stop any of that? They could just send the "fraudulent" data to him. Now we have a bunch of morons getting the first look at this ****. We are doomed. It is our right for the numbers to be public. I hope we demand it. This is yet another disaster.

Nope. Science is science. And show me the scientists who were saying that the protests were scientifically safe. Show me.

Not difficult to do quick sanity checks and that clearly wasn't being done before.

There are far ranging consequences for fraudalent data that impact national security. Governemnt should review when the previous process was broken.

When a damn letter is issued with multiple scientists the assumption will always be that they are endorsing it using a risk assessment that is grounded in science.
