The Coronavirus, not the beer

Do you not believe that symptomatic people can have and spread the virus?

What about the psychological impact?

Japan, a very densely populated country, had 4 deaths yesterday.

Based on their caseload and average age id say that numbsr will spike significantly in about 18-24 days.

I hope they did well to protect the 75+ aged population.

In terms of mask wearing im assuming you meant asymptomatic people spreading the virus and while I think anyone can spread with a cough or sneeze the rate of spread is low. I actually believe that total mask wearing has a negative psychological impact on society in terms of comfort with others. Then the lasting economic impact resulting from that is what is truly disastrous.

I understand the logic with masks and am on board with slowing spread for symptomatic individuals.

I dont see what hugh frequency testing does. Lovkdowns should not be nor should they ever be an option.
High frequency testing is what is allowing the NBA and MLB to operate in a challenging epidemiological environment. It is in effect at the White House.

During a pandemic, "comfort" takes a backseat to safety, which also actually provides comfort. I'm not sure why some people, not only Americans, react so crazily to wearing a mask. It's a slight annoyance and makes communication more difficult, especially for people with hearing issues. I don'T like it but likely everyone else at my local gym, have gotten used to wearing one.

If you want to inform yourself about it google Paul Romer.

Would you like to do the math to determine what the testing amounts and how it would procedurally be accomplished for say the whole US population or even a large city?

This is too short sighted of a view. There is a world after thr pandemic.

What is short sighted?

Don't you agree that people are more important than money and the economy? Those things can be easily rebuilt.

What about the impact to those becauze of our restrictive actions during and after the pandemic.

What of the lives lost due to our response to the pandemic?

Why are only certain lives mattering?

What about people being able to live their lives?

Life is short

Dealing with adversity is part of life, and actually makes people better, improving life.

The pandemic won't last more than a year or so. It might be over quicker if people follow common sense advice.

It actually will last longer with the measures you support.

No idea what you'Re talking about.

I asked, What did you mean by short sighted?

I asked, What did you mean by short sighted?

What impact do you think our response is doing to our aged 5-12 population? How do you quanitfy that in the long term?

What of the large increases in drug overdoses? Domestic abuse?

Thinking about just covid deaths is extremely short sighted.

I bet a good amount of those passing woild gladly sacrifice themselves for the next generation.

The impact on children whose educations were interrupted by war or worse has been studied pretty exhaustively. It's a big scholarly literature. Those of you interested should take a bite out of the apple.

The impact im discussing has little to do with education so your attempt to diminish what we've done to them falls short.
