The Coronavirus, not the beer

My county is getting rough. No one wants to wear their masks. Literally had a patron shouting about how he only does what god wants when I told him we required a mask. lol Unfortunately, as ridiculous and hilariously sad as that is, I now have friends who tested positive because they work with the public. I was tested, too, but I am clear so far.
 
Anybody confirm excess deaths are due to the China virus yet or are we still getting g thr line trust us its real?
 
The experiences that China had with a lockdown and that China and South Korea had with contract tracing influenced other countries. It is a pretty standard part of the scientific method to learn from new observations and data. And a great deal more has been learned from various countries and states since March and April. I would hope that the scientific consensus has changed and been refined as all of the data and analysis has come in. For it to remain static from 2019 would be strange.

Kind of a weak point by this el gato incorrecto fellow.
 
good for Sweden which has done some things right

not as well as its Scandinavian neighbors to be sure, such as Norway which has less than a tenth of the deaths Sweden has suffered per capita

I would say considering the fact it was hit very hard and very early and has such high population density, New York City has done relatively well compared to sunbelt states who had the benefit of time and a chance to prepare and learn from places that got hit early. Ditto for New Jersey, our most densely populated state. But you know all this. Hard to shake that congenital obtuseness.

The mind boggling thing is a couple southern states (Mississippi and Louisiana) are on track to overtake NY and NJ in terms of excess deaths per capita within the next six months.

A lot of diseases are dealt with using a combination of treatments. Chemo and radiation for example. The fact neither is 100% effective alone is not evidence against its efficacy. Basic logic. This obtuseness over elementary logic is odd.

They can learn a lot from various places. Sweden exemplifies the importance of CONSISTENCY on messaging in terms of social distancing and SUSTAINING a strategy.

New York shows the benefits of extensive testing and mask wearing and SUSTAINING that over a long period.

One thing that we've seen just about everywhere is a tendency for people to relax and think it is over. Some of this is just spontaneous individual action. Some of it is government policy such as opening bars. Both are to be avoided.

To summarize:

1) Avoid complacency
2) Avoid bars and other crowded indoor places
3) Think in terms of sustainable strategies. Things with low cost, like mask wearing and social distancing.
4) Be consistent and persistent about strategies such as mask wearing and social distancing
