The Coronavirus, not the beer

The best opportunity we had to fight the virus was in January when Trump was saying we werent at risk, China was historically transparent and doing a fantastic job keeping the virus contained, and that this was all a hoax. I could give you a good list of things any competent person would have done better there. At this point Trump has poisoned the well with disinformation turning a pandemic into a political fight. The best thing Biden can do is work with the experts for a national plan. Unlike Trump he wont be feuding with the scientists and spreading disinformation or encouraging people to take drugs based off a hunch. Biden also has credibility with sane people when it comes to a vaccine. The only real benefit there was to Trump being in office during this pandemic is that he has the ear of the crazies on the right. If he had encouraged reasonable measures to fight the virus we wouldnt have the crazies on the right trying to kidnap governors and burn down capitols. A mask mandate by Obama would have set off the Sharia law crazies on the right.

So everything Trump ****ed, Europe ****ed up worse?

We used to be a world leader in this stuff. An example for others to follow. Any competent person would have had neutral inspectors on the ground in Wuhan and would have started preparing for a coming pandemic in December. I dont think the rest of the world would be in such a bad shape if we properly responded at the start. Instead we trusted a notoriously corrupt foreign dictator to take care of it. You see how that worked out.

cajun do you want lockdowns?

Specifically targeted lockdowns for short periods sure. Which is what should have been done from the start to contain the virus along with far more testing. At this point the virus is to widespread for a lockdown to be effective. There really isnt anything that can be done but to slow the virus spread until we have a vaccine ready. If we were to get the virus under control I would be fine with targeted lockdowns on hotspots to prevent massive outbreaks.

I still ask what specifically you would do differently.

Outside of licking everyone down the virus was gonna spread as soon as it made it to America... and it made it to America well before we knew it existed.

The entire world is exploding in cases and we've known about it for a year.

Luckily, it has a 99.5% survival rate and even better if you are under the age of 80.

The US intelligence knew about corona virus in November. It was apart of the Presidential briefings in December. Decisive action wasnt even taken until late January after 45 other countries banned travel from China and flight crews were refusing to go to China. I have cited numerous things that would have been done differently if a competent person was the President. That he handeled this so badly that there isnt a whole lot we can do now isnt a reason for that person who ****ed up to keep his job. Most of the things that should be done differently at this point are things Trump has done that Biden wont be doing. Like spreading conspiracy theories. Dividing people by making the virus about politics. I am 100% certain far less people in the US would have died if this was taken seriously by the President from the start.

Should've done a mask mandate in January?

1. Start increasing supplies of PPE and ventilators in December.

2. Demand international observers on the ground in Wuhan. And before you say "china wont let US inspectors" I said international. Theres plenty of people we could trust that arent American.

3. Stop travel to and from China in early January and require a 1 week quarantine of people who have recently been to China.

4. Require all International US airports to take extreme measures to protect people. Masks and social distancing required. Lots of extra cleaning and sanitizer available. Masks required on the planes.

5. 1 week lockdowns in hotspots where the virus gets out.

6. Encourage all businesses and schools to do remote learning/business where its possible.

7. Send PPE to all American homes.

8. Suspend federal regulations that dont allow state labs to produce their own tests for the virus.

Republicans - Dont worry about coronavirus it has a 99.5% recovery rate

Also Republicans - Wants you to believe voter fraud is real despite investigations of elections showing the fraud rate is between 0.0003% and 0.0025%

I was just wondering bc fauci specifically said at that time that masks aren't effective. Forget his reasoning, he said it. You can't expect trump to have mandated masks when fauci said they aren't effective.

Fauchi told people not to wear masks because we had a shortage and they didnt want people hoarding PPE when they didnt have enough to cover essential medical workers. We should have ramped up production and ordering of PPE in December. Just one example of why you shouldnt trust what Trump says regarding the virus. He said he was the only one who wanted to shut down travel from China when in fact it was unanimous among his advisors to do it.

Germany with 357 deaths today. This is a new record, and I think they have more reports coming

Considering how high our cases are skyrocketing, and our hospitals are overflowing in rural areas and the rural states, it seems only a matter of time before our lag catches up with everyone else.
