A couple weeks back Fauci correctly said there was no evidence that two masks would be more effective.

Let's see if he changes his tune now that the powers that be have said so

As suspected this data is laughable:

First - the study they released on the 5th only analyzed data until October - and even then found that mask mandates did not make a difference in the affected population:

This study did not demonstrate a statistically significant decline in COVID-19–associated hospitalization growth rates for adults aged ≥65 years, suggesting that there might have been less of a decline in this age group, compared with that of other adults, although CIs were wide. A study conducted during May 2020 indicated that approximately 70% of U.S. adults aged ≥65 years reported always wearing a mask in public, compared with only 44% of those aged 18–24 years (8). As a result, statewide mask mandates might have had a lesser impact on the masking behaviors of adults aged ≥65 years, compared with behaviors among other adults because of relatively high baseline level of mask use among this age group during the reference period (i.e., <4 weeks before the implementation week and the implementation week).

Now today's study... which is again laughable and the expectation is that nobody will read it and the media will push it. They did the "study" on mannequins and flat out say that we shouldn't assume this would hold up in the real world, and they flat out tell us that it can cause breathing issues:

The findings of these simulations should neither be generalized to the effectiveness of all medical procedure masks or cloths masks nor interpreted as being representative of the effectiveness of these masks when worn in real-world settings. Second, these experiments did not include any other combinations of masks, such as cloth over cloth, medical procedure mask over medical procedure mask, or medical procedure mask over cloth. Third, these findings might not be generalizable to children because of their smaller size or to men with beards and other facial hair, which interfere with fit. Finally, although use of double masking or knotting and tucking are two of many options that can optimize fit and enhance mask performance for source control and for wearer protection, double masking might impede breathing or obstruct peripheral vision for some wearers, and knotting and tucking can change the shape of the mask such that it no longer covers fully both the nose and the mouth of persons with larger faces.

The reason people are concerned about Florida is because of the newer strain of COVID that's running wild there.

I'm still waiting for my masks don't work post looking at COVID infections in NZ. Or Australia. Or South Korea.

No, I'm calling you dumb because your takes are dumb.

I didn't see your question. So I'll say what I said before. I think school openings should be handled by each school districts. Some have the means to do remote and take care off their kids, others do not. And they should dictate what they do, not the federal government or state government and the government should do their best to support the schools.

I agree with localizing decisions... but what do we do about these insane teacher unions who are using this as excuse to not have to show up?

THat's a discussion between the unions and their districts. NOt something I believe should be judged and executed by the president like you seem to want.

No I want the President to take the side of science and publicly say that kids can safely be in school.

I want local parents to pull their kids from public as soon as they are able. And I want local governments to stop paying teachers who refuse to show up
