The Coronavirus, not the beer

Nscapi, we've all got some regrettable stances in this thread, but your 2 governors you liked so much in response (cuomo and Whitmer) seem to be catching some heat lately

what's the latest on Whitmer...she's my girl

as for Cuomo, my view has been he benefited politically from not being very poorly chosen one at a time when people were very scared and looking for leadership....thethe was kind enough to bump a post of mine saying a can of beans would profit from the contrast with very poorly chosen one

in terms of policy, Cuomo made an awful mistake on sending back patients to the nursing homes...and then he compounded that with sitting on the data

in both cases there is a glimmer of an excuse...the panic over running out of hospital beds made it urgent to send people home...and he was afraid of the DoJ politicizing the data...but those are just glimmers of an excuse...both the policy and the coverup were bad mistakes

but we are also still left with the fact that after the initial surge last March and April that New York has suppressed deaths better than most states...just comparing with Florida since the end of last April, there have been 19,967 covid deaths in New York and 29,731 in Florida...that's also part of the record

You’re welcome

As fun as it would be to go down that road

So, you could say that this is what is happening right now

While overlooking a pandemic is happening

It seems easier to go with the answer I gave you (which you think isn’t an answer cause you lack any nuance to anything)

It’s just easier to move to the 6th move you were going to make instead of pussyfooting around

What actually happened was the following...

Sturg: this is tyranny

Goldy: no its not

Sturg: what.would.consider tyranny?

Goldy: not that

Sturg: ok, but I asked what you would? You didn't answer question

Goldy: yes I did. You didn't like answer

Sturg: ill ask again bc you're too stupid to understand... what would goldy describe as tyranny

Goldy: I'm not gonna answer. And this is why I'm super smart. I just advanced us 6 steps!!

Useless idiot

She's being sued for not turning over nursing home covid data.

What was the point of Comfort being sent over?

Still curious what trump and his administration did wrong in comparison to something like the EO that Cuomo signed.

The public has a right to know all of the details of what was done and not done. Regardless of whether it is politically embarrassing or damaging.

Why even entertain that it was a glimmer of an excuse for DOJ ‘politicizing’ the reality?

the plan was to use the Comfort for non-covid patients...but it sat more or less empty for weeks...in retrospect it could have been better used to relieve the pressure on hospitals

Almost as if the northeast democrat ran states completely bungled the ccp virus response despite incredible amounts of support from the federal government.

Want to answer that second question?

Why take a vaccine for something that’s harmless to a majority of people?

I've had it. My case would be considered mild. Still, I NEVER want to get it again. The thought of having it again gives me anxiety. I'm going to wait until it's readily available as I likely have immunity to it at the moment but I'm definitely getting the vaccine and any boosters they come out with.

That’s fantastic. You should always make the best decision for you and your body.

I’m of the belief that your body needs to get sick. Just like we lift weights to enhance our muscles we must get sick to boost our immune system.

Lick the subway pole. You’ll be better for it in the long run.

his failures were catastrophic

he not only failed at basic messaging on things people could do to reduce the spread of infections, he actively undermined those basic measures

to me that is the most shocking of many failures...it puts him in the same class as Bolsonaro and Ortega in terms of leaders with the worst response to covid

for historical parallel i would cite South Africa's Mbeki's denialism during the aids crisis

we remember some of the details like the HCQ and bleach...but there were so many others that we have forgotten...like his support of the demon sperm doctor from Houston

Dr Stella...remember her?

here's a clip to jog your memory

Still spreading the fake news that he said to inject bleach eh? Still spreading lies that HCQ doesn’t work for pre hospitalized patients? What’s disappointing with you is that you know better. Bad faith posting I hear it’s called.

Trump is a Reported germapobe. He talked about washing hands and maintaining distance from the beginning. What is wrong with you?

So all you’ve got was messaging indicating that with proper care for the elderly it really isn’t a bad virus?

How is all of that not true?

And we are to ignore the mobilization of private enterprise for PPE as well as ventilators? How about the vaccine production?

Just like normal you just have words as the bad and not the results.

Results are bad too. Our deaths per capita are way above peer groups: EU, Canada, Japan. We have almost 3 times the death per capita rate as Canada, in spite of Canada being slightly more urbanized and being at a more northerly latitude. You can take NY city out of our results if you want and the rest of the country has done way worse than Canada.

I would advise anyone to get the vaccine to avoid this. I still have days where my breathing isn't where it should be and I wonder what this virus did to my lungs. You don't want to get this bug.

Also, vaccines help your immune system as well. It's an intentional exposure to something your immune system will react to and learn from. For COVID, the immune reaction to the vaccines appears to be significantly stronger than actually getting sick and you don't run the risk of being a long hauler with the vaccine.

But in the end, all I can do is warn others from my own experience. Even a mild case of this thing made me sicker than I've ever been in my life.

obesity is a factor in covid mortality but not THE factor...here is America's obesity map...just eyeballing it, i'd say obesity rates by state are only weakly correlated with covid mortality rates...some of our "skinniest" states have had the worst covid outcomes
