Trying to have a conversation with someone who’s as selfish and ignorant is a waste of time. It’s been explained to you before that wearing a mask will prevent the spread of the virus. Period. This isn’t about whether or not you can be reinfected so much as it is about you spreading it to someone else. If anyone is asymptomatic, has mild symptoms, or has received the vaccine and will not come down with an illness that requires hospitalization, they can still spread the virus to someone who hasn’t been infected previously or has had the virus and become really ill and/or may die. And we haven’t even addressed variants. We don’t know if the vaccine or overcoming previous exposure to the virus will protect you from any of the variants.

But none of that matters to you because you’ve dug your ignorant heels into the sand and have decided to be selfish and not help prevent the spread to others.

Do what you want. Act selfishly. I can’t control that. But you, and people like you with this selfish mentality, is why our country is in the position it is.

You should listen to Trump some more. Maybe take some financial advice from him. See how that works out for you.

I stayed away after the plethora of disinformation post election from him and Thethe bc it’s pure poison. Lies and false attacks. I peak in every once in a while and thought I’d call out the nonsensical trash Sturg was slinging around and here we are. Someone here said this about Thethe and Sturg during the election: “debating anything with them is like fighting with a pig. All they want to do is drag you down and get you dirty.” That advice is spot on. The two of them have gone off into their own fantasy world and love bringing us all down with them. They’re honestly not worth the time or effort required to acknowledge them, much less debate them.

He asks for proof of mask efficacy and reinfection risk. And I give him papers published by the National Academy of Sciences and Lancet this year.

And his response is to find problems with a DIFFERENT paper published by the National Academy of Sciences.

People are free to believe what they want. And I guess the rest of us have to decide who is worth engaging in good faith discussion and who isn't.

Thank you for acknowledging this. It’s sad to watch him spiral down the same path Thethe went down. I just caught up on the last few pages and it’s head scratching, to say the least, how wrong he continues to be. Unfortunately, no amount of facts or truth will slow him down. That’s the Q/Trump party for you. Just yell and scream and hope people get tired of the lies and walk away so he can declare himself the victor. Truly sad.

I just read through your evidence and his dismissal. That’s what he does. Demands facts, you give them, and then he incorrectly tells you why your facts are wrong. I said this the other day: g-d himself could present Sturg with objective data and he’d still yell, scream and act like an ass. You are right; people are entitled to their own opinions and nobody should expect to make someone else do what they don’t want to. But my problem is when your ignorant actions directly, and indirectly, impact the health of other Americans. When that happens that’s not cool. We are in this position bc people like Thethe and Sturg drank the Trump Koolaid and now they’re too selfish, ignorant, or proud to admit they were wrong. It’s pathetic.

Actually what happened was

1. I pointed out they did not do their own study

2. They blatantly misrepresent correlation data in their conclusion (something you've been apt to point out in the past)

3. I pointed out they they have been nationally criticized for doing exactly point #2 just seven months prior.

Instead of addressing these concerns, you put your fingers in your ears and say "you're wrong!"

Sowwwwwy that's not how scientific evidence is concluded. But they know they have a certain amount of the population who will accept it uncritically and off they go

I will once again seek to understand why and how the states with the harshest restrictions and largest mask compliance have the worst outcomes.

Afterall, the scientific journal of America whatever published in their conclusion that everywhere who had strict mask mandates showed substantial reduction in infections (this is verifiable false, but don't let that stop yall from eating it up)

It's a literature survey paper. A very thorough survey. Surveys are very useful for getting a comprehensive picture of what the existing body of research tells us. They looked at it from many angles.

Anyhow, you are free to believe as you wish.

you do realize the authors and content of the two papers are different...i'm sure you know that...but somehow the fact there was a challenge to some aspects of one paper matters for the other?...hard to believe you think this is a valid argument

The author is not relevant to point #2.

They used faulty data analysis to make a broad conclusion. This org has been caught doing this before to peer criticism.

The fact that #2 exists should make any critical thinker raise their eyebrow for just a minute.

Your defense thus far is the name of the publication and the universities at which the authors are associated.
