The Coronavirus, not the beer

We aren’t glued to our computers and/or phones. As I mentioned above: we have jobs, spouses and families. Our time is much better spent living our lives vs sitting glued to a computer screen/our phone in our hands. Sturg and Thethe really need to find a hobby outside of this message board.

You must be new here lol

Weird

Man yeah the Philippines is really struggling with a 7 day average of 8300 and a population of 108.1 Million.

They should listen to Texas or Florida with their 4-5 K cases and sub 30 million population. I'm sure they regret with their 13K deaths while Florida is sitting pretty with 33K

PS numbers with no context is classic FAKE NEWS

Weird that masks didn't stop the surge

Let's use your basic stats of 93% adoption rate of masks. If that number is true (it can't be) that would mean still 7 million people or so aren't adopting mask wearing, how many cases has the Philippines had total? Here's a hint, it's under 1 million.

That's not even factoring the large travelling population in the Philippines which has set them up for rougher handling of the Virus than many neighbors. But with that they're still doing so much better than Florida, Texas, etc. So maybe masks work.

But let's talk about Brazil real quick. Brazil who's done nothing to stop the virus, to the point their president is basically hindering vaccine rollout. Brazil has a 7 day average of 76K and their population is double what the Philippines is. So doing the math if we assumed masks did nothing, Brazil should have only about 16K cases and a total case load of about 2M and about 23K deaths. Not 12.5 million cases, and 312K deaths.

That doesn't evne factor in Population density which is a known factor int he spread of COVID. Phillipines has a population density of 358 people per square kilometer Brazil 25 people per square kilometer. Literally every factor other than lockdown and mask wearing would favor Brazil, but Brazil is getting ripped to tits on COVID stats. Could even compare it to Japan or South Korea if you'd like.

Nice argument bro. Care to explain that away? Or why Philippines have a better rate than Sweden? As they have similar numbers to the Philippines with 1/10th the population.

I have posted literally dozens of examples of states doing worse with mask mandates, and you decide you want to make a fuss about this one which shows a.. massive spike in cases despite near universal compliance

Justify however you'd like. Enjoy your two masks and quarterly stimulus checks to keep you content

You haven't even remotely countered one point of mine. You're acting a clown with no argument to counter anything. You just go "states worse with mask mandates" Again doesn't take any number of factors such as population density, ability for population to work from home, etc.

You are arguing that if not for masks, it would have been worse.

You want me to prove a negative, which is a waste of time.

All I can tell you is that the data in countless areas do not support that.

So as I said, you are free to tighten up your second mask. I hope they are turning things around in Phillipines soon.

Technically the vaccines have only been approved for emergency use.

right now we’re still under the “emergency use” phase. None of them have been fully approved. Any sitting President would have muscled the FDA to get it approved for emergency use.

trump making it seem like he masterminded the entire thing.

I litereally just proved you wrong. Literally proved how they were doing better than your positive examples. When they shouldn't be because of their population density.

If anyone is paying attention, they would know I'm not arguing that masks make things worse... my argument is that there is no evidence that they are effective at all.

Ignore the science. Keep your masks on

IMO we should’ve used a “first dose first” strategy for vaccine distribution instead of reserving the 2nd dose for each recipient. We’re trying to avoid deaths and hospitalizations and get to herd immunity...seems like vaccinating twice the amount of people with one dose would’ve been a more effective way to accomplish all three goals, but what do I know.
