The Coronavirus, not the beer

You spent 4 years pretending Putin didn't play Trump like a fiddle.

i believe the head of the NIH reports to the Secretary of Health and Human Services, who in turn was appointed and appointed by none other than very poorly chosen one

Yeah I remember when my buddy wasn't allowed to go to his uncles funeral bc the government said so.

But they were just protecting us.

Imagine being this much of a boot licking sheep

Can't believe your buddy is such a bootlicking sheep. A real man would have said screw the government and just gone.

Apparently 4 fully vaccinated NC state players tested positive. Why are we pushing not-at-risk people to get a vaccine created at light speed that apparently can't prevent you from getting the virus or spreading it? If you assume of their 25 players all but the 2 unvaccinated that tested positive are vaccinated (unlikely), that's 4/23 (.174) vaccinated that tested positive in a group with basically zero risk. Oh, and it apparently didn't prevent the spread, at least 6/25 (.240) players tested positive

The data on the efficacy of the vaccines show that it isn't 100% against covid. But it is very high against dying or getting very sick from covid.

The reason you want not-at-high-risk people to take it is to get to herd immunity. The math is pretty straight forward. Reduce transmissibility and get it down to very low levels. One of the benefits is reduced risk that a variant that defeats the vaccines develops. We've already seen some of the new variants show more resistance to the vaccines.

It is a no-brainer from a social perspective (and individual perspective) that people should be getting vaccinated. Even not-at-high-risk people.

Being 18-22 years old in itself is highly effective in preventing death or getting very sick from covid

And the adverse effects of the experimental gene therapy for younger people more than out weight and reduction in risk. The science seems pretty clear right now that any healthy person under 40 should not have taken this.

sure...but there is still a small risk that can be reduced further...but the main reason young healthy people should get vaccinated is the social benefits of herd immunity...a small act of altruism

Herd immunity is no longer needed when we have effective vaccines and therapeutics. I just can’t understand this push now to get to herd immunity when we have absolutely zero evidence any variant is more deadly or bypasses prior immunity.

If you take the one adverse side effect (heart inflammation), the risks of young people getting heart inflammation from covid are much higher than getting heart inflammation from the vaccine

and then there are all of the other medical issues (for example reduced lung capacity) that afflict even young healthy people who get covid

i don't think the cost-benefit calculation is especially close even for young healthy people

and when you add the social benefits of herd immunity the case for getting vaccinated is a slam dunk

but it's a free country

y'all get to make your choices...even dumb wrong-headed ones
