The Coronavirus, not the beer

Republicans who think the virus isn’t real, or who think vaccines aren’t effective at keeping from people from dying, are just idiots. Really no two ways about it. There’s plenty of room for debate on so many aspects of this pandemic and how we’re dealing with it, but some folks are living in an alternate universe.

Don't discount the fact that anti-vaxxism is actually quite strong in certain left-wing circles. I don't know specifically about anti covid vaxxism. But anti-vaxxism itself is not really a party thing. And for some it has become a lucrative business.

For sure. I also have little doubt that the unvaccinated population distribution across political lines would look different had Trump won.

I can't vouch for anyone else, but there's no way I'm not getting the vaccine. Once it was safe of course.

What's sad, is Trump could have ruddered his base into doing something smart, and instead ruddered them into insanity.

Kamala and America’s Governor were telling people not to trust the vaccine while Trump was in office. Wonder what changed their minds?

Forty-nine students who registered for fall classes at the University of Virginia have been disenrolled after failing to meet the school’s vaccine mandate, officials said Friday.

The campus unveiled its vaccine mandate in May and the overwhelming majority of the campus is in compliance, officials said. More than 96 percent of U-Va. students are vaccinated against the coronavirus and 335 students with religious and medical exemptions have been granted permanent waivers, officials said.

An additional 184 temporary waivers were granted to students who have had trouble getting vaccinated but plan to get their shots upon arriving to campus.

I wish those 49 students good health and success in their alternative ventures. And if they happen to become infected with covid, I hope they will bear the associated costs and not pass on any of the negative effects of their illness to other members of society.

Even though I know you are a pathetic authoritarian loser, it still surprises me when I see how enthusiastically you support treating Americans as second class citizens bc they have yet to take an unapproved drug that they do not need

Aren’t your kids around that age? If your kids didn’t get the vaccine you’d have no problem if they couldn’t get into thier dream college or if they lost thier dream job over thier refusal?

He not only would be ok with it, it is his preference.

He is a typical tyrannical loser who wants to control others bc his usefulness to society has long passed

My enthusiasm is on behalf of the 95%+ of Virginia students who had the common sense and willingness to act in a responsible manner to get their shot. A vaccine requirement for attending school is hardly something new. What is new is this ideological opposition to common sense public safety measures. I encourage all those with this ideological predisposition to go take a ride on a motorcycle without a helmet.

One of them is. I'd think there was something seriously wrong with him if he made that choice. And as a parent, I'd be supportive of his efforts in whatever alternative activities he decided to pursue in lieu of going to college (and also thank him for saving me the money). Btw he got the vaccine as soon as he was eligible for one. He went so far as to drive several hours upstate to a location that had an appointment open. He cares about how his decisions impact the rest of society.
