The Coronavirus, not the beer

If I'm an ambulance chaser lawyer, I'm sending in several covid + people with no vaccine. Sue the crap out of their malpractice.

I would guess all of those doctors did this as a symbolic protest and are doing their jobs right now taking care of the morons currently clogging up the ICUs.

New York City will require every employee of the city’s Department of Education — including teachers, principals, custodians and all central office staff — to have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine by Sept. 27, without the option of instead submitting to weekly testing, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced on Monday.

Hours later, Gov. Philip D. Murphy of New Jersey announced that all employees of public, private and parochial schools in his state must be fully inoculated by Oct. 18 or be tested once or twice a week for the coronavirus. He said the rules also apply to all state employees and all substitute teachers, who are already in short supply.

Your regular reminder that masks are useless

[Tw]1429855892120346632[/tw]

You can't draw that conclusion from this data. You can conclude that mask mandates are not a magic bullet that stops all transmission. But you can't conclude that they are useless from this data. The reason is that you lack a control group. You need a control group under virtually the same circumstances which is almost impossible in this situation. Comparing two cities to each other is difficult as there are real and meaningful differences between any two cities when looking at the spread of a disease. You also can't divide up one city into sections and vary masks vs no masks as that would be unethical and present practical problems that are essentially impossible to surmount.

So while you can look at the massive increase after a mask mandate and conclude they're not a magic bullet, you can't say they're useless because you have no non-mask group to compare the data to. It's possible that the rates would be 20% higher without masks or it's possible there would be no difference. That data set can't tell you which.

Chevron Corp. has begun requiring some employees to receive Covid-19 vaccinations and is evaluating mandates throughout its entire workforce as the oil-and-gas industry contends with rising infections, according to people familiar with the matter.

The second-largest U.S. oil company is one of the first major oil-and-gas producers to implement such requirements as the industry wrestles with unvaccinated field workers. Outbreaks of the virus have recently been affecting operations in key sites such as the offshore platforms of the Gulf of Mexico and the Permian Basin of Texas and New Mexico, several industry executives said.

Chevron is now requiring expatriate employees, workers traveling internationally, and employees on U.S.-flagged ships to receive vaccinations, said company spokesman Braden Reddall. It will also require offshore workers in the Gulf of Mexico and some onshore support staff to be vaccinated by Nov. 1, he said. The requirements cover thousands of employees.

where will this stop

some people say "the vaccines are very likely the cause of the new variants"

I mentioned to you that the more that are vaccinated the more likely it is that a new variant comes up that that is more resistant to the vaccines.

Just poor planning to make tens of millions of people take the vaccine with little to no benefit and what we may find out in the future end up being the thing that made vaccines unsafe for everyone.

mutations arise randomly during replication

doesn't it stand to reason that minimizing replication minimizes the chances of additional mutations

Do you have evidence to show that vaccines are stopping this process via reduced transmission/viral loads?

States with the highest vaccination rates also have the lowest percentage of tests coming back positive.

Ok - Can you show me what the serological tests show of each of those areas?

How about the health conditions of the residents of each of those area?

Why are Iceland and Israel getting huge spikes in infections?

The idea the vaccines are stopping transmission is a complete fallacy.

Anyone arguing otherwise is spreading DEZA to get people to take an experimental treatment they don't need.

Vermont 3% positive
Massachusetts 3%
Rhode Island 4%
Maine 5%
Connecticut 5%

In contrast the positivity rates are very high in states with the lowest vaccination rates

Alabama 22%
Mississippi 21%
Louisiana 14%
Idaho 19%
Wyoming 9%

Feel free to compare positivity rates in Iceland and Israel with countries with very low vaccination rates. I'm pretty sure the data will provide further support of the proposition that vaccinations reduce infections. And they greatly reduce deaths and serious illness.

Btw Israel is finding out that unvaccinated children are a significant vector with the delta variant becoming dominant.

I suspect that the unvaccinated children loophole for children travelling to Hawaii has made a contribution to the rise in cases there.

Its strange that you take this approach when discussing the effectiveness of Vaccines and not the effectiveness of masks.

You don't see that do you?

All we know right now is that those that are vaccinated are contracting and spreading the virus at the same rate as those that aren't vaccinated. Give me one actual study that shows otherwise? Or else your replies are just as good as what you say about Sturgs masks posts.

Israel is also finding out a lot of other things like the vaccine making someone more vulnerable in the thirds 2 month period after injection.

Isreal is also finding out that vaccinated people are still spreading and contracting the virus at almost the same rate as those not vaccinated.

And of course I'll repeat it again. YES, the vaccine is reducing the worst outcomes and that is FANTASTIC. Anyone at risk should take the vaccine.
