The Coronavirus, not the beer

Perhaps some here could tell me this. Why is natural immunity an argument against the Covid vaccine?

If you get the Covid vaccine and it prevents you from getting Covid, then the immunity worked. If you take the vaccine and you still get Covid, then you're going to get the natural immunity you wanted in the first place with the vaccine drastically reducing the odds of severe illness.

The only way the vaccine prevents you from getting natural immunity is if it works well enough to keep you from getting Covid.

To me it seems like the vaccine is a good way of reducing the strain on our healthcare system by reducing the number of total infections, the number of symptomatic infections, and the number of severe infections.

Come on dude, you're probably the smartest guy here. You already know the answer to your question. So, is it true that one of the first things they teach you in law school (if not the very first) is to never ask a question that you don't already know the answer to??? ;)

The science is just too great for us peons to understand

I understand this is too ambitious of an ask to the covid cowards but can any of the super sciency people explain why this is being implemented in a fully vaxxinated campus? What is the endgame if 100% vaccination doesn't get them there?

I bet you won’t get one

How can you evict mid-lease basing it on a new policy? Now when the lease runs out...

It used to take my wife anywhere from 4-8 months of non payment to evict people because of all the bureaucratic red tape and court challenges landlords have to fight through. This landlord is either a.) new at this, ignorant of the rules, and in for a rude awakening, or b.) aware of all of this and grandstanding for the adulation of the totalitarian...I mean, tolerant progressive crowd.

Personally I think that he, and any other landlord, should be able to evict anyone for any or no reason. But I'm pretty sure he and the people celebrating this wouldn't like that.

Well I guess there are no answers from. The super sciency people. Weird

The long waits are going to be due to staff elbeing fired over their Vax status.

It will be spun differently of course

If people think that if everyone just gives in and gets vaccinated that we will go back to normal, they are too dumb to ration with.

We see what is happening with elite institutions, major blue cities, etc.

This is never going to end

Our county hospital is turning everyone away due to a lack of space. I've heard of people with chest pains being told to go multiple counties away to be seen. They have Covid patients in hallways because they ran out of room.

96% of the Covid patients and 100% of the recent Covid deaths are unvaccinated. Please get vaccinated.

We are on the decline, but almost 95% of them are hefty individuals. We hover around 82-87% unvaccinated currently. Most patients around upper 50's+.

I'm not sure why anyone who is at-risk wouldn't take the vaccine. I got my dad vaxed over 3 months ago. The math makes sense.

Hospitalization rates (per 100,000 population) in the five most highly vaccinated states:

Vermont 6
Connecticut 10
Massachusetts 9
Maine 15
Rhode Island 10

And in the 5 most lightly vaccinated states

West Virginia 54
Wyoming 37
Idaho 38
Alabama 52
Mississippi 41

One thing to note. Jurisdictions with high vaccination rates also have taken other measures, such as mask wearing and high frequency testing, seriously. Their success reflects the collective impact of this multilayered approach. What might be called the kitchen sink approach. In contrast, states with low vaccination rates are also the places where mask skeptics abound and where testing is low. What might be called the "muh freedoms" or "burn baby burn" approach.

There are a couple educational institutions near and dear to my heart that I have been following. They have taken this kitchen sink approach and been very vigorous about it. Throughout last winter and this year as covid in the country as a whole has waxed and waned, they have had extraordinary success in keeping covid off their campuses. Sometimes the positivity rate in the state or surrounding community has spiked to over 10% or even 20%. But their positivity rate has remained very low. Very low not as in 2% or 0.2%. Very low as in 0.02%. That's what rigorous application of the multilayered or kitchen sink approach can get you.

It is not silly for a place that is nearly 100% vaccinated to also take other measures seriously. You have to take this approach because sadly there is no single intervention that will banish covid. The vaccines are very good. A godsend. But not perfect. So you throw the whole kitchen sink at this thing instead of muttering about "muh freedoms" or whining "this will never end."

What really astounds me about this whole saga is that we now have a set of interventions that are very easy to implement and collectively quite effective, but that a whole segment of society resists on ideological grounds. Getting a shot is nothing. Wearing a mask is nothing. Being tested is nothing. Minor inconveniences at worst. But there is an entire movement dedicated to resisting and undermining these measures.

Jaw, I’m told by a couple crazy people here that this is true
