The Coronavirus, not the beer

Unreal. Why do countries seem to be so averse to at home testing?

It should be made available to everyone as part of the nsacpi-approved kitchen sink approach

as an fyi:

MIT Medical offers two testing options

Unobserved self-testing kits are available at select pick-up locations on campus. Check Covid Pass for locations and times to pick up your kit and drop off your completed test.

Observed in-person testing is conducted by MIT Medical staff, no appointment necessary, and is strongly recommended for those new to the testing process. Bring your mobile device with the MIT Atlas app and your MIT ID. Check Covid Pass for available locations and times.

Unobserved self-testing
On or before the day you need to complete your COVID-19 test, pick up a testing kit. You may take up to three kits at a time. Check Covid Pass in your Atlas mobile app for locations and times. The kit is itself a biohazard bag. In it contains: a printed instruction book, a card with a unique barcode, a plastic swab, and a collection tube that has a matching bar code.

Testing kit showing matching barcodes on the vial and enclosed cardOn the day you need to test:

Go someplace private.
Take the blue cap off the collection tube and discard it, swab as you normally would (taking care not to touch the tip of the swab with your fingers), and then screw the swab into the collection tube.
Place the tube in the ziplock biohazard bag, and return it the same day to one of the collection sites on campus listed in the Atlas mobile app.
In the Atlas mobile app:
Select Pass, and tap the Medical icon.
Tap Take My Test (house icon).
Tap I have a kit.
Follow the detailed instructions to swab.
Allow the Atlas app to use your device's camera to scan the bar code on the card (not the QR code on the manufacturer label), or enter the number manually.
Tap Submit my test.
Or on the covidpass.mit.edu website:
Click Continue to Medical.
Click Take My Test (house icon).
Click I have a kit.
Follow the detailed instructions to swab.
Type in the barcode that starts with "D" on your blue card or from the testing tube.
Click Submit my test.
Attest afterward (ideally, before you come to campus). Remember, it can take up to 30 minutes for your ID to activate after you attest.
Download a PDF showing illustrated instructions for self-testing.

Taking a home test should be as easy and routine as brushing your teeth or making a cup of coffee every morning. There is no technological barrier to that.

Unreal. Why do countries seem to be so averse to at home testing?

The generous interpretation is they’re letting perfect be the enemy of good. It’s dumb.

The other interpretation is they don’t want people currently locked under house arrest to have proof that they don’t have covid.

I wonder if the issue the Australian authorities are concerned about is people taking a test at home and not reporting or quarantining if they get a positive result. And obviously some people might view frequent testing as a substitute for getting a vaccine. Under the nsacpi-approved kitchen sink approach it is testing AND vaccines...not testing OR vaccines.

The nsacpi approach is legitimately never ending restrictions and sever punishment for any non compliant citizens

It is very sad you think the vaccine doesn't work

Who needs years of schooling?

Covid tells us you can learn the necessary skills to manage a pandemic in a just a couple of weeks.

These people are clowns

Hopefully someone will explain to those workers that it doesn't hurt and will save lives. But if they want to go for natural immunity I 100% support their right to do so. In the privacy of their homes where they won't be infecting anyone else or passing on the other costs of their choice to anyone else.

This is all very normal

In the privacy of their own homes... or on the NYC subway

But totally normal to mass fire thousands of healthcare workers and deploy the military in their place after 18 months of allowing them to work unvaccinated

they're people putting others in jeopardy because of their ideology...society has the prerogative to push back...sowwy we don't indulge drunk drivers and we shouldn't indulge the pro-covid traitors in our midst

The governor issuing a non legislated mandate is not "society"

I believe she has been delegated these powers by the rest of us. And in this particular instance I applaud her for her wise and strong and life-saving use of those powers.

Nobody even voted for her to be governor

She was elected Lieutenant Governor. I don't know if you are aware of this but New York like other states has something called a constitution, which provides for who shall become governor in the event the governor leaves office. I guess you aren't a big fan of following the constitution.

An unelected governor mandates an unconstitutional law that says you cannot eat at a restaurant or work at a company without taking a private company's product, and she replaces those workers with the ****ing military.

And the lecturing buffoon cheers it on like the lapdog he is

An unelected governor mandates an unconstitutional law

those who think it is unconstitutional will have their day in court

i will defer to the judiciary to make the determination

i suspect requiring hospital workers to get a vaccine is not going to be a tough call for the courts
