The Coronavirus, not the beer

covid deaths since June:

Sweden 420
FINLAND 23
Denmark 81
Norway 28

Generally, the number of cases and deaths have fallen off sharply in the Scandinavian countries since June.

During the April to June period, there were lots of deaths (over 5,000 in Sweden).

It is great to see things improve so much across Scandinavia. I would say this is a pan-Scandinavian development. Not something specific to Sweden.

What remains specific to Sweden is a significantly higher death rate than its peer group countries. Regardless of time period. Significantly higher death rate in the second quarter. And significantly higher death rate since the end of June.

Lol - Sweden did better than all these nations.

You are really the worst BL.

On an age-adjusted basis the Scandinavian countries did well with Denmark doing best.

Btw there are some subtleties is how to estimate the baseline. Some countries (including Sweden) had a downward trend in deaths pre-pandemic. Do you extend that downward trend when creating the baseline for 2020-2022? Doing so would affect the results and rankings.

I literally talked about how some Scandinavian countries had bad flu seasons prior to Covid and you laughed that off.

Dude - Stop being a delusional partisan. You were wrong. You’re mostly wrong in all other situations. And you were the most wrong about the China virus.

And a decline in deaths prior to the pandemic would actually be a positive outside factor in explaining an artificially increased excess mortality post pandemic. But you won’t want to jump down the rabbit whole unless you think Sweden was on the verge of “solving” death proof to the pandemic.

You're the one who has championed looking at the data on an age stratified basis. Probably your best contribution to this entire discussion.

Age stratification probably deals with most of that issue.
