The Countdown...

The Braves and Phillies have both had 3 guys do it. So 6 of the 16 times it's happened or 37.5% of the total belong to 2 teams.

Interesting list. Some random thoughts:

  • Surprised to see any from the Dead Ball Era, and yet there were two. Wonder if some of those were inside-the-parkers
  • In the Live Ball Era, the greatest gap between such an event was almost 15 years (smallest gap: 3 weeks)
  • Surprised there weren't more during the Steroid Era. As a matter of fact, were there any? Did the SE end by 2002? In any event, you'd almost assume that McGwire, Bonds and Sosa would have been on the list.
  • Others not on the list: Aaron, Mantle, Williams, Ruth
  • Does that mean Mark Whiten and Mike Cameron had a single game greater than any game played by those four Legends above?

I really do miss having a guy like that at the top of the lineup. Just imagine how much better the Braves offense would be with one of these guys at the top.

93 was an incredible year. The last great pennant race.

Speaking of 93 anyone care to recite what they were thinking in game 4 when we were up 2-1 and had Smoltzie vs Danny Jackson in game 4 especially after the 2 beatdowns we put on the Phills in games 2 and 3. 2 series that i remember that Mark Wohlers gave up a series changing homer. (dykstra in game 5) And if i remember right Avery pitched damned well in that series matched up against Schilling twice.

Also ill never forget the job that Bielecki did in game 4 of the WS vs the Yankees

Fingers crossed that we have him next year - Jose Peraza would look great playing 2B and leading off. Talk about range up the middle...WOW!!!
