The Curse Breaking Thread

Let's face facts ladies and gentlemen, we're cursed.

Its been 18 years since we won a playoff series. We've lost the last 9 playoff series in a row. In 7 of those series, we've had to watch the opposing team celebrate in our stadium.

The fact that we're cursed has never been clearer than in this series. Critical injuries down the stretch to Culberson, Camargo, and Inciarte have hurt us. Martin goes down in Game 1 without ever throwing a pitch. Freeman, our best hitter, goes MIA due to bone spurs in his elbow.

Then you have the fact that the Cardinals have consistently benefited from insane amounts of luck. I can't begin to count the number of weak hits they've collected, many going for doubles. This reached the point of ridiculousness yesterday. Albies hits a ball hard with the infield in and man on third and yet it goes right to the second baseman. Still, the Cardinals would have been eliminated had it not been for a double and single tying the game in the 8th, both with exit velocities under 70 mph. The odds of getting a double and single on two balls hit that weakly was, best I can tell, about 1 in 250.

Much of the frustration on this board has been centered around this curse. We're helpless watching an inevitable conclusion slowly approach. We're sitting and seeing fluke play after fluke play torpedo our chances. We can do nothing but watch as a series that should have already been won seems to be slipping away again.

So now is the time to do something about it. Here's our chance to do anything we can to break this terrible curse afflicting our team. So post here anything you think might ward off this curse. I don't care if its GIFs, pictures of an animal you've sacrificed, or step by step instructions for summoning Baphomet. We have to break this curse!

Law of averages says we gotta eventually win.... right?

It's really been tough to swallow. The Cardinals eventually won game one after that bloop from Carpenter allowed them to tie it. Then we all know what happened in the 8th yesterday.

Seriously, if the Braves win this game, I’ll never post here again. That’s how confident I am that they won’t.

I know that this is supposed to be a positivity thread, but this is my contribution toward breaking the curse. The only thing I love more than watching the Braves is coming here and bull****ting with all of you. I’m willing to sacrifice this half of my dearest baseball hobby to see a playoff series win tomorrow for the Braves. You said anything goes, right?

If by some miracle the Braves do manage to win, just remember who died for your sins.
