If Arizona doesn't have any horses, Goldschmidt is a helluva mule.
Yeah, they got one horse.

Prado has been GREAT for Arizona since the start of July. He was having new team jitters. We still got the best player in the deal but the D-Backs are not going to be upset because they having Prado for 4 more years and Delgado for five more years. Then if they get anything out of Spruill/Ahmed/Drury its just icing on the cake. It was time for the D-backs and Upton to part ways.
Prado is great. And I think his extension is reasonable. But the Braves didn't think he was worth that money.
We talk all of the time about maximizing value. The Braves did that with Prado. Prado was a very good player for not much money for years. Then they flipped him in his last year of team control for a stud and solid guy who fit a huge hole.
Yes I wanted to keep prado and delgado. But we had to give up something.
I really like Delgado, but I also think the Braves can spit out pitchers like that all the time. They can find/create 3-5 starters with relative ease. The timeline for development doesn't always work out, see having to get Maholm. So Delgado's an asset, but he's dealt from a position of strength.
It was either Julio or Delgado, and we kept the better pitcher.
I agree they sold low on him, not sure about highway robbery though.
Prado is a piece of garbge. I didn't bother reading through the replies, but I am sure that's the gist of it.
More like:
What a piece of work is a Prado! How noble in
clubhouse, how infinite in positions! In glove and hitting
how gritty and reliable! In batting, how he likes contact!
with his teammates, how like the glue! The darling of the
diamond! The paragon of players! And yet to me, what is
this quintessence of baseball? Johnson delights not me; no,
nor Upton neither, though by your cheering you seem
to say so —
