Prado is great. And I think his extension is reasonable. But the Braves didn't think he was worth that money.

We talk all of the time about maximizing value. The Braves did that with Prado. Prado was a very good player for not much money for years. Then they flipped him in his last year of team control for a stud and solid guy who fit a huge hole.

Yes I wanted to keep prado and delgado. But we had to give up something.

I really like Delgado, but I also think the Braves can spit out pitchers like that all the time. They can find/create 3-5 starters with relative ease. The timeline for development doesn't always work out, see having to get Maholm. So Delgado's an asset, but he's dealt from a position of strength.

From what I recall they could have had Teheran and Prado but the rest of the package would have been less. Who knows what the other prospects would have been but the Braves did value Teheran more than Delgado.
 
Prado is a piece of garbge. I didn't bother reading through the replies, but I am sure that's the gist of it.
