As for Trump, as boorish and weird as he was during the debate, I admit to watching the Bush-Iraq part with some interest. Being confronted with a (nominal) republican saying not just that the Iraq war was a mistake, but that the public was misled about the reasons for the war did pull the curtain back a tad on where the party is.

Bonus points for Rubio, moments after Jeb had made fun of Obama for blaming the ills of his administration on GW Bush, blaming 9/11 on Clinton.
 
He's already attracting Blue-dog Ds. He can snag other disenfranchised sorts with this tack. He's no idiot despite the rhetoric.
 
I've always kind of figured that the threat of that is what's kept the party proper from really lowering the boom on him. They would seem to be the clear losers in that scenario.
 
Goodness, what a change a few days makes. You Ds ought to be giddy. You get to flip SCOTUS completely and you've now got the prospects of a Trump 3rd party run that will cement Hillary's coronation. You and the banks. ;-) Sorry about that last jab. I couldn't help myself.
 
Trump's foreign policy rhetoric has been the only thing he's said that I partially agree with.

The republicans are idiots for not embracing the "Iraq was a mistake" rhetoric. Just own up to it and move on

Trump visited the paper’s Manhattan headquarters on Tuesday, Jan. 5, as part of a round of editorial board meetings that — as is traditional — the Democratic candidates for president and some of the Republicans attended. The meetings, conducted partly on the record and partly off the record in a 13th-floor conference room, give candidates a chance to make their pitch for the paper’s endorsement.
