The Duvall Moment She Comes...Pronto

I thought this too, so I looked at his service time. It's at 3.096, which means 3 years and 96 days. He needs 76 days of service time this year to get another full year (172 days by definition), or 10 weeks. He could have been called up in the 2nd half of July and the Braves would have still gained the extra year of control.

Duvall isn't exactly mashing in AAA overall, but his .315/.435/.719 (1.154 OPS) line vs LHP in AAA and known good defense has to be a better bench option than Riley. He seems like a slam dunk to replace Riley so he can go work on things in AAA, so the fact it hasn't happened yet means there is something else we can't see.

Which is bizarre considering they twice could have let him walk but kept him around. I don't understand paying him several million to play in AAA. I just wonder what has changed.

The only other thing I can think of is if we were planning on showcasing Riley and selling him off.

I’m thinking more and more that AA may be trying to make a big deal for someone like Thor

Thor or Castillo for a package centered around a nearly MLB ready guy the other team overvalues would be ideal. The most likely guys for other teams to overvalue are Riley (high power but severe contact issues), Anderson (excellent AA stats but supposed poor statcast metrics), and Camargo (everyday player stuck on the bench).

Since we love packages...how about Castillo plus Puig from the Reds for Riley plus Anderson?

I'd bite. Is that even close to equal value though?

AA in the booth last night asked Chip/Jeff what their ideas were. They both sputtered and AA took over the conversation. Why didn't they ask about Duvall being moved up to Atl and Riley being sent down?? Perfect time to ask that question with such a large fan base paying attention.

If not Demeritte, I would even rather see Ortega than Duvall. He gives us another option for CF if needed. We can explore the Duvall situation in August if he isn't traded. I think he will be. But the Riley situation needs to be addressed today, considering we are looking ahead to three RHPs in the Phillies series.

LaMarre has also played fairly well in Gwinnett. RHH while Ortega is a LHH. Neither are world beaters, but even when we were hitting well, I thought another bat might be needed due to an expected drop-off from Markakis and the possibility Ender won't get back up to speed the rest of the way.

Agree with striker that there must be something in Duvall's game right now that the guys in charge don't like. But if that's the case, move him along.

If we love packages so much why not go after Stroman?

Yes, I know I just ruined your joke.

Would the Reds have any interest in Riley though? They have Suarez and Senzel as 3B in the system already.

Looks like the Joyce Moment she comes too.

I imagine we will mix and match with Joyce, Duvall, Inciarte, Riley and Culberson the next few days.

I’d be down. There is enough control there to offset the loss of Anderson.

Waters and Pache are guys I just don’t want to let go of.
