And I do think in the interests of transparency Taibbi should reveal the terms of his arrangement with Musk.

Thanks for answering my question and fair enough. People have different interpretations of free speech. I disagree but that doesn’t make you wrong nor me right.

As a long time Taibbi reader, I promise you he will likely disclose his agreement with Musk. Reading between the lines, I think it’s pretty obvious what the arrangement was. Musk is known to read Taibbi so he likely reached out to him and gave him access to an archive. Given Taibbi has been reporting on similar stories this year, Im sure he was eager to oblige. Clearly the condition Musk set was the reporting had to be done on Twitter exclusively instead of Substack. Perhaps Taibbi required compensation to agree to those terms, but I don’t think it fundamentally affects the reporting. But it’s a valid concern which is why you would like to see other reporters to corroborate with sourced journalism.
