The great folty vs Newcomb debate

I suspect hitters try to be more selective with pitchers who have a reputation for not having the best command. Doesn't explain all of it but could be part of the story.
 
I still think our pitching coach is sub par. I would like them to study our pitchers pitches that look like strikes and aren’t. As well as pitches that are not strikes that do end as strikes. Hitters are not swinging at fastballs three inches outside.
 
If I was the Braves pitching coach I would be having Newcomb and Folty both just throwing fastballs until they can throw it where they want. These two guys have fastballs (especially Folty) that are too good to be consistently throwing it for balls. Newcomb especially doesn't seem toever know where his fastball is going to end up.
