The Impossibly Cool Doctor Who Thread

Just some thoughts.

Favorite Doctor - 9th, wish he had more time.

Favorite Companion - Rose, though Amy was close.

Favorite Big Time Villain - The Master

Favorite not as big time Villain - Weeping Angels

It's amazing how much better the new series is compared to the old. I guess the technology almost always makes Sci-Fi better. For example, the Nestene Consciousness was so much more awesome in the new Series.

Ninth Dr. was my favorite as well. Though the 10th was very good too.

Favorite Villain - The Sontarans

Favorite Companion - Martha Jones

I liked Martha. Plus she was really hot and I didn't want to punch her every time she spoke like I did with Rose.

Favorite Villain that I LOVE seeing come on the screen:

Scariest Villain and Best Episode Ever (should have won an Emmy or something!):

Favorite Character Ever on Doctor Who (by a far margin...the one and only):

Most disliked Character -it's a tie between Mickey and Donna. I hated both of them equally.

I agree with pretty much all of this.

Martha is hot but I have several issues with her, but importantly, did she ever stop complaining? Seriously? I don't think I recall a time when she wasn't crying cause the Doctor didn't love her. Get over yourself woman!!

I think the new show had crutched on the Daleks a little too much. Though I think in the Smith arc, they did some interesting things with them.

Captain Jack is pretty awesome, though I wish Torchwood was better. I can't quite get as engulfed in it as I did with Doctor Who, it is good, but I can't quite get into it, I think it tries to push the "it's more adult than Doctor Who" thing too much.

I think preferring the 9th doctor is good evidence that you have a brain tumor.

I've always heard about Dr. Who but never watched it, other than maybe 1 or two episodes years ago. Since I have netflix, I decided to give it a try, starting with the newer version. After the first season, I was disappointed the 9th doctor was gone. He quickly became my second favourite after a few episodes with the 10th doctor. I'm still not sure on the 11th, only a few episodes into season 5, but I don't see how he can top David Tennant.

I can't believe I've been missing such a great show all these years.

The Day of the Doctor was pretty badass.

Sad that Eccleston wasn't involved, at least in the regeneration scene. Also this really effs up the doctors mythology. Now we are on according to the mythology set forth in the TV movie involving the 8th doctor going on what has to be the last Doctor since Timelords regenerate 12 times. I'm sure they'll make a work around for it, but I think Bringing on John Hurt as a new Doctor was largely unnecessary, though I think they did a great job with the episode overall. Especially like ther very bried introduction of Capaldi. I really wish Rose was involved but the idea of giving the Moment a consciousness was pretty interesting.

Correct. i think they have 6 seasons on Netflix. If you have Amazon prime at least the first half of the 7th is there and the 7th will get to Netflix.

You can watch the older ones later to make up on some of the mythology but it's not really needed.

The master already has gotten around the 13 limit, so it's not exactly a hard and fast rule. It's been established that the clock can be reset by the Time Lord Council or whoever, and, why... look at how the Day of the Doctor ended... They were gonna have to deal with the doctor running out of regenerations as some point in the near future, so I can see Moffat wanting to go ahead and put his stamp on that.

Not only are the older ones unnecessary, but they are for the most part counterproductive. At best they are dated, and at worst they will make you want to blow your brains out.
