The NOT August 12 2017 Gamethread

Phillies got him for us as he kills us, check his numbers vs the Braves. I read Ramos was already starting a rehab so barring any setbacks I could still see mid-August. But either way he should be sharp by the time we face them and he can hit a lot better than their other catchers.

is he just a better hitter against the braves jersey or is it small sample size stuff?
is that more likely to continue or even out?

I realize 202 PA isn't a large sample size, but it's the 2nd biggest number of PA for him vs a certain team. In the 202 PA, he is .302/.426/.597 with 38 walks to 24 strike outs. He kills the braves

but why does he hit better vs the braves? he just likes hitting vs them? i'm just not sure it makes a ton of sense. we have a lot of different pitchers from 2015 when he slugged vs us. lots of different guys from 2016 too. i just don't know why he'd magically hit better vs the braves.

Perhaps our scouting report sucks.

I imagine there are a lot of guys with good numbers against the Braves over the last 4 years or so. When you're rebuilding a cobbling together a pitching staff with what's at hand, you're going to give up lots of hits. When we had Maddux, Glavine, and Smoltz plying their trade I imagine there were a lot of guys who had bad numbers against the Braves.

Bour ops vs braves by year...
2015 = 1.195
2016 = .846
2017 = .944
2018 = 1.227

Career ops vs all teams is .817

right. so he just likes hitting against guys in a braves jersey, despite very different pitchers from 2015 to now?
i'll say again i'd expect regression more than a continuation.

Hope you're right. The Phillies plan is that it won't this season though, I'm sure
