The Obesity Thread

Anyone that wants to see the world more in the black and white in regards to this needs to read David Goggins book "Can't hurt me"

Broken, Poor, Abused, Illiterate, Stuttered, Depressed.... you name it...

He had every excuse in the book. If you want something...TRULY want it...

It can be done. Hell i'll send you one if you promise to read it. If you don't believe your true potential after reading it then I'm not sure what more can be done.

I agree. I don't make excuses and try to convince myself I made healthy choices. I decided what my priorities were and at that time, exercise wasn't one of them.

Yep been there brother.

Just remember... you are now a example for your children. You want to be the dad that can't chase after them and keep up or you want to be the dad that shows them poor examples of food choices?

My answer to the man in the mirror was no. I did not and saying I didn't have 20 minutes (involve the kids!) to help work off some bad choices was a lie.

Well, we’ll see what vacation drinking does to me, but pre-vacation I weighed in at 263.0, so 13.2 pounds down from 3/1. It’ll be a pretty active vacation, and I didn’t buy a ton of junk food, so I’m hoping to stay below 265 this week and put myself in a position to end the month in the 250s.

Awesome dude- all about making better choices one meal at a time. Just do a little better than the day before.

What I’ve found working with folks is momentum matters. Keep it.

Checking in.

Invested in your success! Just keep making better decisions one day at a time.

A lot of people are finding intermittent fasting a great way to drop weight and boost energy btw.

I appreciate the support, man! I didn’t hit my goal, but weighed in at 268 and am back on the grind today. Back to IF and my exercise routine. I know where the week got away from me, and plan to learn from it!

It’s great to have goals but the important thing is to commit to a healthy lifestyle.

1 day of exercise a week is better than 0 days
2 days is better than 1

And so on

Important thing is to get your body used to regular exercise.

Two weeks + ... any progress?

I’ve started an early am Olympic lifting program in my garage. Felt great first week, second week feeling run down. It’s three days a week in addition to my other stuff.

It could be I had my 2nd Covid shot Monday afternoon. Still got a red 4” circle on my arm. Been pretty worn down. May also have to start upping my calorie intake.

My son is trying to put on 30 lbs to walk on for his school's division 3 football team.

First world problems.

That would be fun but it can’t be all bad weight.

It's not. He is hitting the weights every day. Doing cardio too.

He's a skinny basketball player. He played both in middle school but only basketball in HS. Don't really understand why he wants to do this.

Some people love being told they can’t or won’t. Some people love a challenge.

Chances are if he’s a roundballer he’s got food feet and movement. Good feet transition to a lot of positions for football.

He'll probably play safety. But I could see him as a tight end.

He got lucky in the sense that the school he is going to has a bad football team and a new coach who needs bodies and is willing to think outside the box.

Its possible. But requires white supremacist ideas like personal responsibility, discipline, persistence, and hard work.

Making excuses is a lot easier
