The "Untouchable" Julio???

Not even close.

If the Braves were to trade Teheran or Ender to the Astros (they also need a CFer) the return has to include Bregman.

Mallex would require significantly less, obviously, but I wouldn't sell him short. He is a starting caliber CFer who should post 2-3 WAR per year and is controlled for 6 years (or only 5 years now?).

And I doubt the Astros are interested in trading a pitcher who is ready to step into the MLB rotation for a SP. Why would they do that rather than just plugging their young guy into the rotation?

The Astros area of surplus is Bregman and Gurriel at 3B. One is penciled in for LF, but with the glut of corner bats on the FA market, they could get a very good pitcher or CFer for Bregman and sign a hitter for LF. I fully expect Bregman to be traded this offseason in a blockbuster. I bet it will be, by far, the biggest trade of the offseason. Like "holy ****, the Astros just got Sale" big.

Is this actually based on something other than "pull a trade proposal out of my back hole" and try generate traffic to the blog?

I like the thought (but not the proposed trade) and I also think Bregman could be had but it would likely take Teheran AND Inciarte. After all, the Astros didn't sign Gurriel to play him at 1B.

I think Gurriel is their long term 3B and Bregman is moved.

I'm thinking something along the lines of Teheran, Inciarte and Viz to Houston for Bregman, Tucker, Fisher and RHP Albert Abreu

Play Mallex in CF. In a couple of years you could have:

2B Albies
SS Swanson
3B Bregman
1B Freeman
LF Fisher/Riley
RF Tucker/Peterson
C ???
CF Mallex/Acuna

But that would mean the show in 2017 isn't as sparkly.

For Tehran and Inciarte I'd have to get Bregman, Paulino, and Tucker back. I know that's a haul but so is trading 2 of our best players that aren't FA for a long time.

You have to be joking... that is an absurdly light package for two cheap starters. One a number 2 SP and one possible starting CFer for tons of years under control. It's a terrible package.

It's really not. Both could be top 10 prospects before long. It's not quite there, but it's not crazy.

No, it's nowhere near sufficient. Bergman would need to be part of an Astros deal, and pick the top two prospects on the cusp of any other team you care to name. If that's too rich, oh well. I happily keep Teheran and Inciarte.

They're our two most valuable assets. They really shouldn't go anywhere.
