The Reverse Pennant Chase

Last night was especially big to lose while Cincy, Tampa Bay, Minnesota and the Angels all won. Let's hope for the same tonight!

Very key series soon with Arizona. If Atlanta wants that #1 pick, they need to come out of that series no better than 2-2. 1-3 or 0-4 would be gravy.

Even if we get 1-1, I hope the FO is aggressive with trying to get more CB picks.

I think that's an organizational philosophy right now. There's a lot the team has done that raises eyebrows, but the Braves have been on the forefront of trading for comp. balances draft picks, which looks like a really smart strategy.

Still 5 games up on Minnesota. Next closest is 7 games up on Arizona and Los Angeles (Anaheim). Atlanta needs to split or lose series in Arizona. There is no reason to sweep that series and possibly be 2-3 games ahead of Arizona with a full month plus to go.

The two-team race to the bottom continues:

1. Braves :tchop:

2. Twins -1.5

3. Diamondbacks -7.0

4. Padres -7.5

5. Reds -8.0

Rays -8.0

7. Brewers -8.5

Angels -8.5

I think at this point, we can safely guarantee ourselves top 2. Still hoping for number 1, but I would also like to see us finish strong. Especially the young pitching, Kemp, Neck, and Inciarte. Strong finishes from Neck and Inciarte could lead to fruitful off-season trades.
