The Thanks Fredi Thread

Remember the good times.

My favorite Fredi recollection pre-dated his Braves hiring, but it was obvious then who'd be the next in line. After getting the boot in Miami, apparently Bobby made some calls to unload on Miami management. Then, the Marlins didn't gift him, like every other club, after the last game of his farewell tour.

Oh, yeah, Bobby was hot. Ask him if he gives a **** if the Marlins gave him a miniature of their ****ing sculpture in left field.

Lest we forget, when Hanley Ramirez was doing his "loaf and whine" bit after he got paid, Fredi had the juevos to bench his ass - a move highly unpopular with Hanley, and, as I recall, Jeff "Lucifer" Loria.

I wonder if the video of Hanley lollygagging after an overthrow that got his a** benched is online anywhere. One of the greatest exhibitions of non-hustle I have ever seen.

I wasn't as down on Fredi as most here and he does deserve props for keeping his mouth shut while everything collapsed around him, but the team was lifeless. There's just no excuse for that. Managers are often sacrificed to remind players that they are well paid to put forth at least a semblance of effort and that's what probably happened here.
