Its a consumption tax which is slightly different.

You understand the China tariffs because the chinese government is doing things to hurt american businesses but dony understand mexican tariffs because their actions are hurting american citizens?

It's a consumption tax... so the Corona beer I'm drinking wont cost me more?

My mom buying a new car wont hurt her?

I dont agree with any of the tariffs. I think they are stupid and extremely counter productive and have clearly not worked to date.

But I at least understand the logic behind the Chinese ones. The Mexican ones make no sense and will make any trade deal harder bc nobody can trust the stability of Trumps impulses.

Why not raise tariffs on every country?

Tariffs should be imposed to change behavior of nations that are negatively impacting Americans.

Its clear thats whats happening. You dont agree with the reasons and thats fine. But that is the reason and there is a clear strategy at play here.

Trumps #1 campaign promise was to portect the border. All he is doing is fufilling promises made to voters. There will be many who dont agree with his administration.

A consumption tax is different because the consumer is making a discretionary decision to pay it.
