On July 25, President Trump held a phone call in which he repeatedly leaned on Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate Joe Biden and Paul Manafort’s prosecutors. The episode is so blatantly inappropriate even Trump’s most fervent apologists are, with a few exceptions, having trouble defending it. What they are trying to do, instead, is define this phone call as the entire scandal. Trump emphasizes that he “didn’t specifically mention the explicit quid pro quo” of military aid in return for the investigation.
That is true, as far as it goes. The quid pro quo in the call, though perfectly apparent, is mostly implicit. But the real trick in Trump’s defense is framing the call as the entire scandal. The scandal is much more than that. The call is a snapshot, a moment in time in a months-long campaign that put American policy toward Ukraine at the disposal of Trump’s personal interests and reelection campaign.

The whistle-blower who revealed that President Trump sought foreign help for his re-election and that the White House sought to cover it up is a C.I.A. officer who was detailed to work at the White House at one point, according to three people familiar with his identity.
The man has since returned to the C.I.A., the people said. Little else is known about him. During his time at the White House, the whistle-blower became deeply unnerved about how he believed Mr. Trump was broadly seeking to pressure the Ukrainian government to conduct investigations that could benefit him politically.“Namely, he sought to pressure the Ukrainian leader to take actions to help the president’s 2020 re-election bid,” the complaint said of Mr. Trump.After the call, multiple officials told the whistle-blower that future talks between Mr. Trump and Mr. Zelensky would depend on whether the Ukranians would “play ball” on the investigations he sought.The whistle-blower, who lodged his concerns with the inspector general for the intelligence community, has identified at least a half-dozen government officials — including several who work for the White House — who he believes can substantiate his claims. The inspector general has interviewed some of them and found the whistle-blower’s claims credible.

The dental hygienist who used to clean my teeth was a Ukrainian immigrant and during all the multi-colored revolutions and counter-revolutions that plagued that nation she told me "They are all corrupt." I suppose one could dismiss it as cynicism from an emigre, but given the growing pains a lot of the former Eastern bloc countries have experienced, there's probably more than a grain of truth in her assessment.

Well I would say the same thing about our legal/justice system. Its corrupt from top to bottom.
This is the longest radio silence we've gotten from the Two Towers on this forum in a long time.
Im enjoying watching a repeat of the Russia collusion nonsense. This 'big' story will dissapear all the same.
Trump will still be your president in February 2020.

Remember last week at this time 50-80 House members were on record calling for Impeachment. Today it is over 220
And there are cracks in the Senate
The House is as it should be a done deal.
Trumps credibility is shot so I really dont worry about whether the Senate convicts or not. The court of public opinion has turned

Except he admitting it and we have an official transcript of him colluding with a foreign government to provide for on an election rival. Saying he didnt pressure the Ukraine President is like a robber saying someone just gave him their wallet totally unrelated to the gun he had pointed at them because he didnt specifically ask for the wallet. All excuses go out the door when he brought his rdsonal lawyer into it. They cant even pretend he is a neutral party like they would with the OG AG. The investigation into the oil company was dormant for a year when the prosecutor was fired. The next prosecutor fully exonerated Biden's of any wrongdoing. If there was any wiggle room to do this it was his first 2 years. Once Biden announced his candidacy for President it is 100% illegal. The Ukrainian President can deny pressure all he wants but the summary of the call posted by Ukraine before all this broke specifically mentioned talking about corruption that has been hampering relations between the counties.
