The Trump Presidency

Some things about the op-ed.

1. It’s real. That’s not to say that it’s honest, per se, but no matter how jaundiced your view of NYT, there’s no way they run something like that without being 100% certain of its provenance.

2. I don’t think it was likely to have been a cabinet member at all. “Senior Staff” is actually a pretty wide net.

3. Whoever it is is a basic bitch party-uber-alles foot soldier.

4. It’s probably the first shot fired in a rear-guard action to protect the party when Trump’s presidency inevitably goes tits-up. That’s the only context that makes sense. I find it deeply cynical and self-serving. If so many people inside think he’s dangerously incompetent, they should be saying so on the record. If they think he’s actually mentally incapable of doing the job, they should initiate the constitutional remedy that exists for such a situation. Anything short of those two actions is just CYA writ large.

Big picture, though, I’ve lost count of the insider types who’ve said that this stuff, and the Woodward revelations, tracks with what they hear from WH staff.

Miss Julio. Was terribly wrong about Russian collusion but at least he still had some semblance of rationality.

actually i kinda agree with thethe that very poorly chosen one will continue to exert a strong influence on internal GOP politics during his post-presidency

I think there's no doubt about that... but kingmaker is what made me almost spit my coffee out with laughter.

I would bet (R) does everything possible to distance themselves from DJT and the past 4 years.
I would think Romney, Bill Krystal and the Lincoln Project take back what they feel is theirs
He might have influence up to but fading 2024 ala Sarah Palin 2012.

Unless of course he spends all his time in court

But
Let's not be counting his post Presidency just yet

there is a part of (R) that would like to do that

and a bigger part of (R) that will not allow it to

Are they still going to listen when he is in prison? I would be surprised if he makes it to February without being indicted in NY. Cohens confession is about as good of evidence as there is. All they need at this point is his taxes and loan applications to confirm the accusations and it's an easy prosecution. I imagine the judge will slap a gag order on Trump to prevent him from attacking the court through the media.

One thing I have said for years now is Obama shouldnt abide by the precedent of the previous President staying mostly silent post Presidency. Trump will be twatting all day long trying to undermine Biden and Republicans will defend him doing it. Obama has to be the biggest sap in the world to keep falling for this ****. He doesnt want to piss off Republicans but they continually take that ans turn around and spit in his eye.

thethe says lots of crazy things but that's not one of them

This happens all the time. As soon as he gets beat, they will distance themselves like he has the...I would say plague or 'Rona, but we know how little the republicans are interested in distancing from those, so we'll go with political herpes.

You've learned little about the Trump voter.

Oh no

I’ve learned a lot about trump Voters and they made sure to reinforce those thoughts that got some ilk worked up when it was said
