The Trump Presidency

you voted for a coward for $4000 and some abstract sales pitch.

Actually I voted against someone who is clearly hellbent on taking as many liberties away as possible.

That is frequently a losing battle though when there are more takers than makers left

Having said all that, you voted to hand the nuclear football to someone you label a coward.

Like I said a laundry list of abstractions

Refusing to behave like a man and have a normal transition is going to hurt Trump's brand and his supporters. He has shown himself to be unworthy of their support and many of them will know it. They are a rather thin-skinned bunch.

loyal to the end

for a person who has no loyalty

love that the only "drain the swamp" thing he did was to get rid of that while on his way out the door lol

that and pardoning a guy for scamming his cult lol

Is it actually somewhat plausible that Trump could help create a semi-successful third party? Because as a Democrat, this is highly relevant to my interests.

Well, Teddy Roosevelt was the last one who really made a good showing of it and that wasn't super successful. If Trump did create a third party, it might not benefit the Democrats as much as you might think. This party would be right of the remaining Republicans so if the Republicans and the new party were to have the majority, they would likely band together to elect leaders of that chamber and to control the committees.

Additionally, most elections require a majority so the best you could hope for would be to force more runoffs.

I would actually like to see a moderate third party emerge. One that shaves off from each party and so controls politics by being able to throw its weight one way or the other.

I do not believe this is true of any state other than Georgia or Louisiana. In the other states, only a plurality is required in a General Election. In that case, a successful hard right third party would seemingly help Democrats a lot unless it was stupidly countered with a Socialist Party or something.

Now, I doubt this will turn into anything. As much as Trump appeals to his base, I don’t think he’ll pony up the cash to find success, and most of the people who could do so are likely to be too pragmatic.

You're right. I find that bananas. I suspect you'll see that change many places if there's another major party. Winning elections with 35% of the vote would be bad.

Unless Democrats merely wanted to make Republicans feel better, it either would be more like 45% or so, or the Republican Party would have to steer pretty far left. Unless you’re referring to states Republicans currently win with 65%, in which case the Dems would already a Super Majority if we’re talking about them.
