The Trump Presidency

If southern strategy is true how did Carter win the the South?

Le Pen-style nationalism is the essence of identity politics. Disagree?

Her politics are based on facts that unregulated immigration hs destroyed France and hs made Europe unsafe.

Identify politics is when you call someone an islamaphobe implying that is the only reason they share those beliefs as opposed to seeing facts that prove the points they are making.

Hang on a sec. You're saying the election of two popular Southern governors to the presidency invalidates statewide and national voting trends that would be obvious to a not-very-bright child. K, buddy.

Hoo boy. What two southern governors? I'm talking 1976 when Ford was beaten. You also didn't read the article I posted. Voting patterns were already changing before the 60s. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/ar...shift_to_the_gop_predates_the_60s_118172.html

Um, if your point is that white southerners didn't flip en masse in 1964, I get it. The more germane question, I guess, is did they flip? The even more germane question is whether the FN is a neo-fascist party, and you haven't really touched that one at all.

It was a flip but a very slow flip. As a former southern democrat who voted Clinton in his first term but I went Republican when the dems started to go too far left. What do you want to me to say about the NF? I don't see them being a neo-fascist party. They are critical of the Islam immigrants because there is good reason to. Telling uncomfortable truths doesn't make someone a racist or a fascist.

So your point of view is that a neo-fascist political party is now palatable because they purged the Holocaust denier who founded the party. Check.

On the big stage
Barry Goldwater led the parade in 1964 by flaunting is anti Civil Rights stance and accepting John Birch endorsements albeit with a nod and a wink
Kevin Phillip fulfilled the promise of Goldwater by initiating a Southern Strategy . Based on race.
By October 1972 George Wallace supporters were welcomed into the Republican Party with welcome arms.
It was by no means a "slow flip" by 1976 (D) was referred to as the ****** Party. I would argue that in (R) circles that view is still held
your history like most else you write is flawed

Telling hard truths is not in itself racist or fascist. Framing hard truths in racist or fascist rhetoric and policies-- kinda is
You can put a ribbon on a pig and do you know what you have?
A pig wearing a ribbon

The party was controversial(perhaps racist) but there was no indication it was fascist. Do you really know what a fascist is or are you just parroting stuff you're reading? Besides being a holocaust denier what did he do that was so bad or is that enough for you to condemn him a racist?

I laugh at people who pilloried Ahmadinejad of Iran for denying Holocaust that now apologize and wonder "is that all he did"

Sometimes I wonder how some of you drink water what with having a hole on each side of your face

Well, before I get to that, I'm just going to give you my interpretation of your--and thethe's--position. The FN is anti-Muslim, so it's ok with you. That's absent any other context.

Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

LOL! Coming from you that's rich. There are even Jewish holocaust deniers. Are they racist? It takes a kook to believe it but it's not necessarily racist. Do you have any more lies you want to make up about me today like you did the other day?

Wait. You just said it was "perhaps racist." So, seems like you answered your own question.

As for neo-fascist, I'm not sure what else to call a hard-right, white-identity, anti-immigrant nationalist European political party.

"Perhaps racist" doesn't mean the same as I know they're racist for sure. Besides if there were racist individuals the party as a whole never stood for white identity. I don't see any evidence of that. If you have any evidence show me. The alt-right has racist elements to it and has fortunately attached itself to the republican party. That doesn't make the republican party a white identity party. Anti-immigrant? Not wanting to take in people who as a whole don't like to assimilate doesn't necessary make one anti-immigrant.
