The Trump Presidency

I'm indifferent on Lieberman, if he's selected. Nevertheless, I think I would've preferred a lawman in that role as opposed to a political guy.

Sen Graham says Special Counsel will "severely restrict" congress' right to call witnesses.

and so it starts. This has supposedly taken the inquiry out of political hands -- as if Lindsey Graham was going to grow a spine.
I always likened the trio of McCain/Graham and Lieberman to the Nevada Senator in Godfather II

Senator McCain stops to praise the idea of Lieberman for FBI director - says he thinks hardly anyone more respected on the Hill

Yeah, it's a weird step away from the usual JD official/prosecutor/FBI/federal bench track from which every other post-Hoover FBI chief has been drawn.

Obviously, I have partisan political feelings about Lieberman, but I imagine D senators will balk at the fact that his most recent paychecks have been coming from one of Trump's favored law firms.

Pence would not pardon him or I hope not.

Pence owes everything to Trump. Pence was going to get trounced in his re election campaign for governor so he went from soon to be unemployed to VP. He might even be President soon which is a political miracle worthy of Frank Underwood. Pence could never win a presidential election. Republican primary maybe, but not the whole thing.

Apparently Comey's July announcement about the investigation into Hillary was directly because of the meeting between Bill and AG Loretta Lynch.

Per NYT:

WASHINGTON — President Trump told Russian officials in the Oval Office this month that firing the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, had relieved “great pressure” on him, according to a document summarizing the meeting.

“I just fired the head of the F.B.I. He was crazy, a real nut job,” Mr. Trump said, according to the document, which was read to The New York Times by an American official. “I faced great pressure because of Russia. That’s taken off.”

He really doesn't seem to know how this thing works.

CNN: White House Counsel's office has consulted experts in impeachment & have begun collecting info on how such proceedings work

One source said they were shocked to learn how complicated the whole thing was. "Gonna take hours to read all this," a staffer complained.
