The Trump Presidency

You've accused me multiple times of using too broad a brush or too wide a net. I'd like to know, specifically, whose virtue I've unfairly impugned.

Proud Boys/FOAK (McInnes) or the Patriot/Constitutional Militia movement (and their various charters), organizations like NSM or alt-lite/alt-right subgroups that don't latch onto the supremacist angle, yeah, absolutely.

MacInnes has contributed to several ws and anti-semitic publications, in addition to a litany of other garbage he's been involved with. You want to discuss him, I'm happy to.

"Patriot/Constitutional Militia movement" is a little overbroad, but since they've brought us OKC and dozens of other incidents of violence against innocents over the years, I'm pretty comfortable going there.

Ok, alt-lite/alt-right subgroups? Which ones were there? To whom shall I address my apology in case they're not actually vile bigots?

NSM? You mean the actual ****ing neo-Nazis?

You guys aren't seriously going to push this "get rid of all Confederate monuments and/or any other historical artifact we find offensive or distasteful to the enlightened, are you"? Is that seriously a road you THINK you want to traverse?

Always have.

I grew up where the Revolutionary War was fought.

and in my life have seen more monuments for the Confederacy than the original Patriots.

I think displays of the Confederate Flag should be illegal.

It is not an historical artifact. If it was it should be relegated to some out of the way museum.

Why should an African American citizen walking to work have to look at monuments to the trash that seceded with the one and only reason to secede being to enslave their forefathers based on the color of their skin.

The same color of a 5 year old African American

The same color of the woman in the picture Runnin put up facing 2 hooded men

Again, it is not an historical artifact it is an object used to intimidate

I don't know who "you guys" are but I am all for traversing that road

...........................................................................................................

The Confederate flag came out of moth balls to symbolize objection to Civil Rights

Robert E Lee was a traitor as were the rest of that rabble

So you're for getting rid of any piece of history that you find offensive? I agree about the Confederate flag if it's being used to intimidate or otherwise threaten people, but it seems to me as if you're among those who want to erase anything from history you don't like. Please tell me I"m wrong about that.

I don't want to erase it

I want it put in it's proper place and taught for what it was

The Civil War was in no way fo/ught over a noble cause.
So why celebrate it ? Honor it?

here it is again.

I don't see what the one has to do with the other. One is a monument built to people who stood for things, some of them good others detestable, the other is a couple of guys who value their beliefs so much they won't show their faces. This one is akin to the Confederate flag being flow to intimidate people like the aholes in hometown did when President Obama went there last year.

Just in the lulz department...Alex Jones suggested that images of Nazis in Cville were actually Jewish actors. He did this during an interview with...

Gavin McInnes

The Totally Not-Objectionable, Definitely-Not-Nazi Alt-Lite, keepin it real with InfoWars.

Perhaps I'm just not sufficiently "up on" the facts of this case. Tell me again who the is statue of, about when it was constructed, and which venerated place we're speaking of?

Someone else questioned earlier, and it might have been you Julio, what purpose do these monuments serve other than perpetrating a cult of personality (my reading)

We all celebrated the taking down of Sadaam's statue.
Thee are iconic photos of taking down Lenin
Robert E Lee ?
Who was an enemy combatant

What he did and what he represented needs to be taught.
Statues are erected to honor people not to educate

That with AntiFa and whataboutism are to me newly defined concepts

I'm speaking in general, not about any specific case, though there's a good article up in the Atlantic right now about statuary in the US Capitol bldg.

I'm offended that MLK allegedly beat a woman.

Remove all monuments dedicated to him.

NOW!!!

Hmmm. For all of the calumnies about MLK, and for all of his human failings, I'd never heard this one. Did it come from one of those classic Ron Paul newsletters?

But in the debate over offenses, I'll take the action on "allegedly beat a woman according to sturg" vs "betrayed his country, his Constitution, and his officer's commission in order to fight for a system of white supremacy and chattel slavery, as well as personally ordering the scourging of slaves, and returning captured blacks to servitude."

Doesn't matter, man. I'm offended. It needs to be taken down.

Even if the alleged beating isn't true. He still was an adulterer. That offends my Christian values and morals.

So take it down.

Ok, cool. Get to work on that. Best of luck.

Seems like we still argue about states rights to this day, 150 years later.

But I'm sure you think the civil war was about slavery and nothing but slavery

Oh, yeah...one of those Patriot/Constitutional militia types was arrested today for attempting to blow up a bank in Oklahoma.

I'm really sorry if I mistakenly broad-brushed his ilk as Nazis instead of just terrorists.
