I'm already bored of discussing who deserves the blame or what each side has said in the past regarding the topic. In my opinion we can all play politics forever to turn the shutdown into points against the other side, or we can look at the policy behind the positions that got us here. From my perspective, the Right pushed back action on CHIP way too far during the debate over taxes, then tried to take a hard line on DACA to get concessions on border control. With that framing my opinion, I prefer the stance taken by Democrats, and support what they have done. For a person who prioritized Tax Reform and Border Security, I can see where they would disagree with me. But looking at what was said 4 years ago by Trump and Schumer is pointless.
I confess I don't get this. You've argued that hardliners deserve deference, or whatever, specifically because Trump won the election.
The other candidate actually got more votes, but somehow that's notan indicator that more voters supported her CIR/DACA stance.
It's a tad protean, spades being spades on policy and whatnot.
You keep repeating this position, but the only person I see framing the debate about who has claim to popular authority on the matter is you.

not so much.
We need to rethink the 50% + 1 brand of governance
or in this case, 46.1 plus ---- 5 targeted districts
How about just coming up with a nice piece of legislation that contents all parties?
But you wanna gauge the public tide by ... crowd size? And get rid of that little number we call the democratic process?
Sheeesh.
we have been living in a Republican Civil War since the mid 1990's.
Craft legislation -- you make me laugh

Ex-RNC chair: "This shutdown rests at the feet of the GOP"
The shutdown is a pretty smart, though very cynical, play by the GOP. They need something to attack the Dems with for the 2018 elections. If they and Fox News can frame the shutdown as all the Dems' fault, they can make people forget about Trump.
There are thousands of women and cucked dudes protesting with ridiculous pink pussy hats on their head for really no good reason other than they are triggered by Trump. You really think the GOP think folks are going to forget about Trump? I really don't see how the gov shutdown helps pubs.
