The Trump Presidency

Of course not. And that's why I'm asking for specific examples of actions which demonstrate the President is unfit to lead.

Review the last few pages of this thread and you'll see references to Trump U, pussy grab-gate, and slum landlording.

Those issues stopped being relevant to me the day after Trump was elected.

To you, perhaps, but the character suggested by those issues lives on...and, one way or another, seems destined to be litigated. If you want to push your chips to the middle of the table on that...

Did he act on that comment?

In the daily confusion you throw your hands up to just last week in West Virginia he went off script denouncing Mexicans .
No particular reason outside of it being an applause line - in the state least populated with immigrants

Gotta do better.

Let's talk about policy.

With respect to policy, I would say he has not done anything I would regard as disqualifying. I disagree with plenty. But to me someone has to go pretty far on policy to say that disqualifies that person. I don't consider disagreeing with policy even very strongly as something that I would want someone removed from office for. I actually am not keen on impeachment. I think there are good grounds for impeachment. But I want his fans to have the pleasure of 4 (or even 8) years in the White House. I want them to enjoy each and every minute.

Well he is not in a position to act on that belief. Thank goodness.

And of course there is the misogyny where there are plenty of instances where he did ACT in a highly problematic way.

As President? My contention remains that we made a decision about the President's pussy-grabbing on election day.

I'm looking for demonstrable actions, that Trump has undertaken as President, which would found the belief he is an incapable (unfit) leader.

Legitimate reasons to impeach or castrate the power of the President.

Like promoting the first female CIA director?

In reference to what, specifically?

Russian collusion?
Mike Cohen?

My understanding is the legal bar is High Crimes and Misdemeanors.

So, basically, at the end of the day, we're still at square one.

Collusion - in whatever permutation fits.

or

Now, possibly, something related to Stormy Daniels.

We certainly did make that decision. That much I will grant you.

The charge of high crimes and misdemeanors covers allegations of misconduct peculiar to officials, such as perjury of oath, abuse of authority, bribery, intimidation, misuse of

assets, failure to supervise, dereliction of duty, unbecoming conduct, and refusal to obey a lawful order. Offenses by officials also include ordinary crimes, but perhaps with

different standards of proof and punishment than for nonofficials, on the grounds that more is expected of officials by their oaths of office.

Well the bar is pretty high for me there. I can think of a few things a President could do that would be disqualifying, but Trump hasn't gone there. It would have to be pretty awful--things like genocide, unprovoked nuclear war, etc. I think when you live in a democracy part of the social compact is you accept a pretty wide range of decisions that are very different from what you do.

But I do think rule of law is a bedrock. And abuse of power by a president when it comes to rule of law is something we should not be cavalier about.

I'm just not sure I'm seeing the reasoning behind suggesting that the election provides universal absolution.

President Donald Trump “certainly believes he has the power” to fire special counsel Robert Mueller, a spokeswoman for the White House said Tuesday.

“We’ve been advised that the president certainly has the power to make that decision,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters during a press briefing.

It seems to me his carelessness about legal niceties are what are going to cause him the most grief. It is somewhat unsatisfying to me to see things end that way. But I think the biggest dangers to him now are the Comey firing and the possible conspiracy with Cohen to violate campaign finance laws or commit bank and wire fraud. It is unclear to me how much danger he is in with respect to the latter. Certainly Cohen is at risk. But Trumps reaction yesterday seems to be a tipoff he might be at risk as well. He and Cohen are such idiots that it would not surprise me if they left a nicely gift-wrapped package for the prosecutors.

and this is the signifigance of the warrants to search Cohen's residences and offices

With the referral of the investigation of Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, to federal prosecutors in Manhattan, this thing has now spread beyond the president’s ability to contain it. What is he going to do: Fire the entire Southern District? This is a wildfire Trump has to let burn; he can’t put it out — probably not even with a spate of mass pardons.

note that the State Attorney that executed the warrant was a law partner of Rudy Giuliani .
