The Trump Presidency

Knowing Trump as he clearly should have, it's a little late to put himself and his family first, imho. He should've bailed the day T became President, but maybe that would've already been too late.

I'm curious how a guy so young and clumsy with the law came to be known as Trump's personal lawyer and "fixer". He doesn't seem to have the expertise or experience for such a position. The Stormy scandal is total incompetence on the Trump side.

He's not his lawyer, per se. He's a dealmaker and fixer whose status as Trump's attorney only exists to shield certain things behind the veil of attorney/client privilege.

Based on the last several weeks, he's an absolute ****show of a lawyer. He's been fairly effective at his primary occupation, when the stakes have been lower. Those activities are not going to stand up to the kind of scrutiny they'll get when the stakes are elevated to this degree.

On an orange-jumpsuit-likelihood scale where 1 is Tiffany Trump and 10 is Paul Manafort, he's about a 7.

I'm guessing he's got a lot of legal exposure for activities going well beyond the Stormy Daniels matter...probably mainly financial crimes

You think a judge would reject a lawful warrant because he was appointed by Trump?

Lol.

maybe

but that isn't what we were talking about

it seemed the conversation was showing that the people who did this "witch hunt" are all republicans and some of them have a job only cause of trump

that the dumb**** keeps using the term which hunt is embarrassing since it has no characteristics of a which hunt at all

It already cropped up months ago that he had some real estate transactions that raised money-laundering flags--cash sales through LLCs for way above market value. Probably all too common in that world but not likely to escape a full-court press from the relevant authorities.

I thought it was rather shocking that Cohen is already running his mouth on CNN one day after having his records seized. Why would any lawyer, assuming he has a competent one, agree to letting him go on CNN and riff away? Maybe they think the court of public opinion is their only hope left.

the tenor of his comments are also very interesting....and why CNN not FOX

If you remember Fox News / Devin Nunes etal main claim of BS was because Cohen being mentioned in the Steele Dossier for a meeting in Eastern Europe.
The timeline didn't fit for the location . Granted
All the same his name was attached to that era.

Whether the meeting took place or not, Cohen has been a known associate. A Tom Hagan of sorts

Guys are falling for another 'this is big' moment.

Can't wait for this to dissapear in 2 weeks and you'll pretend like it never happened.

Seems we've moved on from collusion

That was quick - Just a facade to start an investigation to find a crime.

They better act quickly because this administration is doing a lot of positive (and negative) things but so far the policies are much better than the last few presidents.

" we've " ?

I'm old enough to remember when sturg swore up and down he wouldn't snap into the Trump line.

sturg,Hawk and thethe might have moved on from collusion (I've lost count how many times now)
Bear in mind, Bob Mueller hasn't

Collaboration happened in broad daylight. Only those that are very determined to avert their gaze can claim not to see it. Trump gave speeches to which Russians were asked to attend in which he said listen carefully this is what I'm offering on sanctions. He at times called on Russians in the audience to ask a question to which he had a carefully formulated response. The platform on Ukraine was changed and a GRU asset was invited to come watch the process at close hand. Then in other speeches he asked the Russians and Wikileaks to release the emails, affirmatively accepting the offer of help communicated through various emissaries.

It must be a relief that the investigation is over.

Much of it happened in broad daylight. The absence of a MOU means there is an investigative task that remains for Mueller to make the connections with respect to quid pro quo in a way that can stand up in a court of law. The evidence of a quid pro quo in the case of former campaign manager Pavel Manafartov seems increasingly strong. I suspect he will not be the only member of the campaign who will plead guilty to or be convicted of being a witting participant in a quid pro quo with the Russians or at a minimum accepting something of value from the Russians in violation of campaign finance law.
